007 First Light Coming Out on March 27

On September 3, PlayStation aired a State of Play stream specifically revolving around 007 First Light, during which IO Interactive locked down March 27, 2026, as the third-person game's release date. The latest announcement put to bed months of speculation about the exact time of its arrival and etched it onto the list of some major releases taking place in the first half of 2026, which includes heavyweight releases such as Grand Theft Auto 6. Besides the release date, as part of the event, the devs also gave a deep dive into 007 First Light's gameplay, showing everything from thrilling Uncharted-like set-pieces to Hitman-like open-ended missions.

Interestingly, 007 First Light's release date has turned out to be taking place within a year of its official reveal. Such a short period between announcement and launch is not that common for AAA games and should please James Bond enthusiasts who won't have to wait too long before jumping into the game. However, one thing that may not work in the IO Interactive-developed title's favor is its proximity to GTA 6's release date (May 26), which might make players move on from the Bond game somewhat quicker than usual.
