Award-winning sci-fi adventure game 1000xRESIST is coming to PlayStation 5 in early November after making waves with its debut on Nintendo Switch and PC in 2024. 1000xRESIST has earned high praise for its gameplay and visual design, but most of all for its compelling story, which PlayStation 5 owners will soon be able to experience for themselves.
Created by the small development team at Sunset Visitor, 1000xRESIST provided what many believe to be one of the best video game stories of 2024. For those not familiar with it, the game takes place in a futuristic world in which most humans have been eradicated by a disease spread by arriving aliens. Iris Kwan, whose immunity to the disease thrusts her into an important role among the remaining humans, provides a central figure in the story, navigating the complex politics of her own seclusionist society, including the alien threat, the presence of cloning technology, and the rise of a religious cult.

Now, the development team has confirmed that 1000xRESIST is coming to PlayStation 5 on November 4. The sci-fi game has already earned a strong reputation among those who have played it, sporting a top critic average of 89 and a player rating of 90 on OpenCritic, with a perfect 100 percent critic recommendation rate. Despite not coming from a well-known studio, those high scores landed it in 13th place overall among OpenCritic's highest-rated games of 2024, putting it in front of some more highly publicized narrative-heavy games that include Persona 3 Reload, Silent Hill 2, Dragon's Dogma 2, and Unicorn Overlord. In addition to earning high respect from players and critics, 1000xRESIST has also been nominated for at least 20 awards since its launch, successfully taking home the 2025 Peabody Award for Interactive & Immersive Work.
The accolades lauded for the game's immersive story are thanks in large part to the perspectives provided by its unique group of creators. 1000xRESIST enjoys the benefits of a small development team, which consists of just four people with backgrounds in theater, dance, performance art, and new media, allowing them to provide unique perspectives based on past experiences not often seen in game studios.
PlayStation 5 owners aren't the only ones who are about to get access to this beloved adventure game. 1000xRESIST is also coming to Xbox Series X/S and Xbox Game Pass on November 4, providing some additional justification for subscribers to the subscription service in the wake of a 50 percent price increase to its Ultimate tier earlier this month.
