Solo Leveling Season 3 stands as one of the most anticipated manhwa-to-anime adaptations. While fans continue to hope that A-1 Pictures will announce it soon, the reality seems far from that. A key figure behind the show recently revealed that Season 3 is still years away.
A Solo Leveling FYC Q&A took place earlier this year, featuring, among other things, casting stories and conversations about the possibility of Season 3. Producer Sôta Furuhashi noted the immense work that went into producing Solo Leveling’s first two seasons. He added that speculation surrounding the Season 3 release may not be settled until after the next Olympics, when the anime’s future is expected to become clearer.
Solo Leveling Producer Admits To A Prolonged Wait Ahead
Solo Leveling, the hugely popular adaptation of the webtoon of the same name, premiered its first season on January 7, 2024, followed by Season 2 on January 5, 2025. With Season 2 having concluded on March 30, nearly half a year has passed, and fans are growing increasingly anxious to know more about the anime’s future. The silence regarding its continuation has fans worried, and Furuhashi’s words strongly suggest that the year 2026 doesn’t hold much promise.
When asked about the impending season, Furuhashi admitted that it was the toughest he had faced, noting that he, too, is anxiously awaiting it:
I think that’s the toughest question I’ve had tonight. I think more than anyone, I am anxiously awaiting a Season 3! But in truth, between Season 1 and Season 2, 220,000 frames of animation were created. And of course, I’d love to give the animators a little breathing room. So, if it were up to me, I’d say let’s wait until the next Olympics to see what’s going to happen with a Season 3. But to get to that 220,001st frame of animation, I think that’s up to more up to Kaneko-san and A-1 Pictures.
While the Solo Leveling fans had hoped A-1 Pictures would announce Season 3 soon, it looks distant. Furuhashi’s comments did not clarify whether he was alluding to the 2926 Winter Olympics or the 2028 Summer Olympics. Either way, the prospect of Solo Leveling Season 3 debuting in 2026 seems highly unlikely.
A-1 Pictures has always prioritized quality above all else; therefore, it looks like this arduous delay will ultimately prove beneficial. In an update reported by Deadline, Crunchyroll President Rahul Purini attributed the delay in Solo Leveling Season 3 to the rising industry demand, noting that:
The [series] creators want to work on a lot of shows. Anime is really popular, so there’s a lot of demand, and so we have to find the right time to get started on the next season.
Regardless of all of these comments, it is certain that the announcement and the eventual release of Solo Leveling Season 3 will be a major event for the anime industry. Fans are hopeful that Solo Leveling Season 3 will arrive by 2026 at the latest.
Solo Leveling’s Unstoppable Rise
Solo Leveling, which is a Manhwa-anime crossover, is dominating the current shōnen landscape. Season 2 became Crunchyroll’s top series in the first quarter of 2025, and naturally, fans are clamoring for more.
While Solo Leveling’s rise has taken the anime industry and even its own producers by surprise, the fact remains that the upcoming shōnen titles will eventually divert viewers’ attention from it. One such title is My Hero Academia, whose season 8, set to premiere on October 4, promises to spark a fresh wave of discourse and discussion in the shōnen community.
The wait is long, but in the meantime, fans can always read the manhwa, or revisit Seasons 1 and 2, which are currently streaming on Crunchyroll. To find out more about Sung Jinwoo’s chronicles, they can also take a deep dive into the Solo Leveling manhwa.
