In the beginning, 7 Days To Die players will make their tools and weapons out of stone. But, pretty quickly, they'll need to start upgrading their items as the days go on. It won't be more than a couple of weeks before the player will need to start making items out of forged steel.

Forged steel has been in 7 Days To Die for a very long time. It's a resource that is incredibly useful for crafting weapons, vehicles, defenses, and more. Newer players may have a hard time crafting forged steel for the first time. So, this guide will go through all there is to know about crafting forged steel.

How To Craft Forged Steel In 7 Days To Die

A Stack Of Forged Iron in 7 Days To Die

Forged steel can't be crafted by hand or in a workbench. You'll need to craft a forge before you can start producing forged steel. Since it is one of the strongest materials in the game, crafting forged steel isn't cheap. To craft one block of forged steel, you'll need 31 iron and 15 clay.

You'll need to smelt the materials into the forge before you can craft with them. This will take some time, and due to the heat of the forge, it may attract some screamers.

The other thing that you should note about crafting forged steel is that you'll need to place a crucible in your forge before you can craft it.

How To Get A Crucible In 7 Days To Die

A Crucible in 7 Days To Die

Getting your hands on a crucible isn't cheap. There are three ways of getting a crucible; buying one, finding one, and making one. Crucibles are very rare. While it is possible for a player to find one either in a container or being sold by a trader, it is unlikely. Even then, if you find one being sold by a trader, it will cost a small fortune. It may be worth investing a few points in the Daring Adventurer perk. This perk will increase the chances of a trader selling rare items like a crucible.

As for crafting a crucible, you'll need to read a whopping 75 Forged Ahead magazines. These magazines can be found inside broken forges, mailboxes, bookcases, and various other containers. When you have unlocked the ability to craft a crucible, you'll need to have the following materials on hand to make one:

  • 100 Forged Iron
  • 20 Mechanical Parts
  • 1200 Small Stone
  • 10 Oil
  • 900 Clay Soil

You can craft forged iron in your forge at the cost of 12 iron and 6 clay per piece. Mechanical parts can be wrenched off of various appliances and vehicles. They can also be found in loot containers. Stone can be found everywhere. Simply dig down or look for rocks on the surface. Oil can be obtained by breaking down vehicles or searching loot containers. Similar to stone, clay soil is just about everywhere. Just dig down to get some. You can also purchase most of the items to craft a crucible from a trader.
