Gathering resources in 7 Days To Die is a daily grind. When it comes to the basics like wood, stone, and iron, players can never have enough. As beginner players start to find their bearings, they'll need to set up a forge in order to start crafting materials to make weapons that are much better than the regular stone tools.

How To Get Water in 7 Days To Die

Water is crucial to your survival in 7 Days To Die, and here are several ways that you can avoid death by thirst.

One of the items needed to build a forge is a wood log. For those who are relatively new to the game, they may not know how to acquire wood logs. This guide will go through all there is to know about crafting wood logs.

How To Craft Wood Logs In 7 Days To Die

Requirements For Crafting Wood Logs

Crafting wood logs is incredibly easy. All you need to do is open up the craft menu, type in wood log, and hit craft. It's not uncommon for new players to think that they get wood logs from cutting down trees, but that's not the case.

Wood logs have no level requirements, there's no need to read any magazines, and players can craft them from day one.

Crafting 1 wood log will cost you 10 wood. Players can hold a maximum of 500 per stack, which isn't too bad. That said, crafting wood logs in large quantities isn't really necessary. Wood logs have two primary uses; crafting forges and building/decorating a base.

A Forge in 7 Days To Die

As mentioned, a wood log is needed to craft a forge — but that's not all you'll need. To craft a forge, you'll need 1 wood log, 50 cobblestone rocks, 10 leather, 3 duct tape, and 3 short iron pipes. Trees are everywhere, so getting wood isn't a problem.

As for the other resources, you can get leather from skinning animals (just be sure to use some sort of knife while skinning animals, as you'll get more resources than you would using an axe). Duct tape can be looted from containers or purchased from a trader. Duct tape can also be crafted — it costs 7 cloth fragments and 1 glue to craft a roll of duct tape.

Short iron pipes can be found in containers, wrenched off of certain items, purchased from traders, or crafted by the player.

Players won't be able to craft a forge until they have read a couple of copies of the Forge Ahead Magazines. These can be found all over the place. Some of the best places to find them can be seen below:
