The Two Ways Of Finding Buried Treasure In 7 Days To Die
There are two different types of buried treasure missions in 7 Days To Die. The first method of obtaining buried treasure is through trader missions. These can be started by speaking to a trader and requesting a job. Then, you can select any buried treasure mission and head to the rally point.
The second way is through treasure maps. As you play, you'll come across treasure maps inside various loot containers. These maps are great for getting your hands on some good quality items for very little effort. There is a bit of luck involved in finding treasure maps, but you should find some casually as you play and explore various POIs.
How To Complete Buried Treasure Missions In 7 Days To Die
After activating a buried supplies mission from a trader, you'll need to head to the rally point. Once there, you'll need to activate said rally point and ensure that you stay within a certain radius of the dig site, or the mission will fail.
When you first activate the rally point, the dig site will be fairly large. However, by default, every 10 blocks you dig, the dig site will shrink slightly. Each time the area shrinks, there's a chance for some zombies to spawn. So, it's important to keep count of how many blocks you have dug, just in case you need to make a quick escape.
Once you have found the treasure and looted its contents, some zombies will spawn, so be prepared for a fight.
If you are using a treasure map, then things work slightly differently. First, you don't need to activate a rally point. When you are close to the treasure's location, the area will automatically light up. Also, you don't need to stay close to the dig site. If you get overwhelmed by the undead, then you can leave the area and try again another time with no penalties.

The other differences between treasure maps and treasure missions are that treasure map loot boxes are locked, and they don't spawn zombies when opened. As for loot quality, while a lot of it will depend on your loot stage and your perks/mods, there aren't any high-tier buried treasure trader missions. So, as you progress, buried treasure trader missions will become less profitable.
Tips For Completing Buried Treasure Missions In 7 Days To Die
It doesn't matter whether the player is using a treasure map or following a trader mission; there are still some things they can do to make finding the treasure easier. There's a perk called Treasure Hunter. It has three levels to it, and each level reduces the number of blocks you need to dig up before the radius will shrink. Though it may sound good, this perk is best avoided.
Instead, players should use the following things to help them complete buried treasure missions:

Buried treasure is usually buried at a depth of around 4 blocks. So, if you dig a couple of spaces down, then throw down some dynamite, you can find treasure pretty much straight away, as the dynamite will do the digging for you.
