If the player opens up their character menu, they'll see their loot stage. The higher this number, the better the loot. There are many ways for players to boost their loot stage. Killing enemies, surviving for long periods without dying, and leveling up do help to boost the player's overall loot stage. However, there are a couple of things that offer the player a temporary loot stage bonus. These temporary loot stage bonuses can be very handy if used correctly. Surviving in tougher map regions, taking certain consumables, and investing in certain skills all help to increase the player's loot stage.

7 Play In Tougher Biomes

The Tougher The Biome, The Better The Rewards

There are a total of 5 biomes in 7 Days To Die. Each biome has its own list of pros and cons. As the player progresses through the game, they'll naturally end up venturing into the more dangerous biomes. Every biome, excluding the pine forest, gives the player a loot stage boost. This boost only applies while the player is within the bounds of any given biome. The difficulty of each biome can be seen below.

Pine Forest - Very Easy
Burnt Forest - Easy
Desert - Medium
Snow - Hard Biome
Wasteland - Very Hard

The wasteland gives players the best loot stage boost. However, it is also by far the most difficult region to survive in. Players who are feeling confident in venturing into the wasteland should be sure to enter well-armed and loaded up with meds.

6 Invest In The Right Skills

Lucky Looter Is Great For A Boost

There are a few perks that can help players find more/better items. However, out of the perks that do affect the items that the player finds, Lucky Looter is by far the best one to have. While it isn't particularly useful during the early stages of the game, it quickly becomes a must-have skill. No matter the player's preferred build type, it's always worth sticking at least a couple of points in Lucky Looter.

This skill does two things. First, it gives the player a permanent boost to their loot stage. Second, it allows players to loot considerably faster than normal. The benefits of this perk can be seen below:

Level 1: 5% Loot Bonus. Loot 10% Faster
Level 2: 10% Loot Bonus. Loot 20% Faster
Level 3: 15% Loot Bonus. Loot 40% Faster

Similar to how biomes offer the player a temporary boost to their loot stage, POIs (Points Of Interest) do the same thing. For those who don't know, a POI's difficulty can be seen on the top right side of the screen. Every POI is broken down into tiers. A tier can be calculated by the number of skulls in the image at the top of the screen. 1 skull equals 1 tier point. The more skulls, the more difficult the place is to clear out.

Upon entering any POI, the player's loot stage will change to match the difficulty of the building or area. So, simply by being within the bounds of a tough POI, the player will naturally come across better-quality loot.

4 Wear The Treasure Hunter's Mod

Stylish And Useful

The Treasure Hunter's Mod is one of the best mods in the game. It does three things for the player:

+10% XP Gain
+5 Loot Stage
Treasure Radius 1

These three perks make for a powerful combination. But the main one this list will focus on is the direct boost to the player's loot stage. While a +5 to loot stage might not seem like a lot, it can be surprisingly beneficial, especially during the early stages of the game. If the player is fortunate enough to come across one of these during the first few days of their playthrough, they should definitely wear it. Provided the player is wearing the mod, they will be able to enjoy the benefits mentioned above.

1 Always Dig Up Treasure

Treasure maps will always lead the player to some pretty rare and valuable loot. While these maps are relatively rare, players should always take some time to read the map and dig up the treasure. While the loot inside is tied to the player's overall loot stage, they will almost always find a healthy mix of weapons, ammo, Dukes, and more.

When digging up treasure, players don't need to dig down very far to find it. For the most part, buried treasure isn't buried any deeper than between 3 and 4 blocks. Also, by default, every 10 blocks that the player digs will reduce the search radius, making it easier to find the container.
