Summary

  • Potential for A Minecraft Movie sequel is immense, with room to explore new locations, mobs, and adventures.
  • The End Dimension and its mysterious elements could be a significant setting for the sequel, with the Ender Dragon as a final threat.
  • Including iconic bosses, introducing new biomes, and exploring Alex's backstory would add depth and excitement to the sequel.

With how well A Minecraft Movie is performing at the box office, a sequel feels like a matter of when, not if. The movie has clearly struck a chord with both longtime fans of the game and new audiences just discovering the world of Minecraft.

Screen adaptations of video games were once deemed certain failures, but not anymore.

The film managed to cover a lot of aspects of the game, from crafting and adventuring to iconic mobs and game mechanics. However, considering how much the game has to offer, there's still a ton of untapped potential that a sequel could explore. Whether it's new locations, mechanics, characters, or biomes, a follow-up to A Minecraft Movie has plenty of room to build something even bigger.

5 The End Dimension

The End Should Be Steve's Next Destination

Since the Nether played a huge role in A Minecraft Movie, the End Dimension feels like the obvious next stop for a sequel. It's home to some of the most mysterious and dangerous elements in the game, with its eerie atmosphere, floating terrain, and scary structures.

Since Endermen are native to this dimension, they could also play a larger role in the sequel's story. Whether they're portrayed as enemies, allies, or something in between, their presence alone would make the sequel more entertaining and unpredictable. Of course, the Ender Dragon could serve as a massive final threat. Seeing Steve and his buddies fight the Ender Dragon and free the End would be awesome to witness.

4 More Unique Mobs

There Are Still So Many Mobs Left To Introduce

A Minecraft Movie brought several of the game's most recognizable mobs to life, from Creepers and Skeletons to Ghasts and Iron Golems. However, given just how many unique mobs exist in the game, there's still plenty of room to expand on those mobs in a sequel.

Mobs like Wither Skeletons, Drowned, Phantoms, Ravagers, and more could bring fresh dynamics to the story. Some could pose new threats, while others might open the door for new alliances. Introducing more unique mobs would not only add depth to the world but also make for some great fan service.

3 Boss Battles

The Game's Iconic Bosses Should Appear In The Sequel

One of the most exciting parts of Minecraft is gearing up for and facing off against powerful bosses. Whether it's the chaotic destruction of the Wither or the downright terrifying presence of the Warden, these fights are an unforgettable part of the game, and they could be just as thrilling on the big screen.

Easy Minecraft seeds help beginners learn the game's mechanics, ensuring they don't get overwhelmed by the limitless maps and dangerous mobs.

Seeing Steve and his buddies take on one of these bosses in live action would add a whole new layer of excitement to the sequel. A well-crafted boss battle could raise the stakes of the movie and give fans an incredible action scene, neither of which was missing from A Minecraft Movie, but both of which could make for a bigger and badder sequel.

2 New Biomes

More Biomes Would Unlock New Adventures For Steve

While A Minecraft Movie did a surprisingly good job of capturing the look and feel of Minecraft, it didn't spend much time showcasing the game's wide variety of biomes. Each biome in the game has its own personality, environment, and items. Not only do the biomes look different from each other, but they also have unique mobs and blocks.

A sequel could really benefit from diving deeper into the different biomes that players can find in Minecraft. It would keep the visuals fresh and serve as a way to introduce new adventures for Steve and his crew that are visually distinct from what was seen in the first movie.

1 Alex's Backstory

Exploring Alex's Backstory In A Sequel Seems Like A No-Brainer

A Minecraft Movie gave fans a surprising amount of depth when it came to Steve, showing glimpses of his past and what drives him to be so creative. It would only make sense for the sequel to shift the focus to Alex and her backstory, as she was the only other default skin in the game alongside Steve for almost a decade.

Exploring who Alex is, where she came from, and what her goals are could add a lot of emotional weight to the story while also helping balance the spotlight between the two leads.
