Abiotic Factor has seen the game’s skill cap grow twice. Once from 12 to 15, and again from 15 to 20 for its 1.0 release. Skills come in 3 categories. These are Fitness, Combat, and Survival. Fitness governs 4 skills, Combat governs 5 skills, and Survival governs 6 skills. Different jobs have different skill bonuses.
How to Get Reinforced Hose in Abiotic Factor
Where to find the materials to craft the Reinforced Hose in Abiotic Factor.
These categories are nowhere near as important as the skills within them, and focusing purely on what each skill brings to the table is what counts. Skills that come up more frequently than others, and those that affect more integral parts of the game, should be the skills players put most of their attention to.
8 Sprinting
Great for Engaging and Dissenting Alike
- Category: Fitness
- Increased by sprinting
Sprinting will be vital for traversing around the game effectively. The higher their investment in this skill, the more total stamina players will have. This will allow players to cover longer distances in shorter spans of time.
Increasing this skill will also increase the speed at which players sprint and how fast they will recover their stamina. This skill will also let players dodge more enemy attacks and can help them stay alive while closing the distance on enemies and while making escapes.
7 Sneaking
Perfect for Stealth Players
- Category: Fitness
- Increased by sneaking near enemies
The higher a player's sneaking skill, the longer it takes for an enemy to detect their presence. Increasing this skill is very reminiscent of how a player would increase the Sneak skill in Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion and its remake. Players that invest in this skill will also be able to get a damage bonus for their first strike against an unaware enemy.
Abiotic Factor: How to Build a Base (& Where To Build One)
In Abiotic Factor, players will be able to build bases out of office furniture to help themselves survive the secret underground science facility.
As players gain more levels in Sneaking, they will be able to move around faster while sneaking, which can allow them to duck from one cover to the next. They will also become quieter and avoid setting off traps.
Some traits can stack with these skill bonuses, such as Inconspicuous, to raise Sneak Skill.
6 Accuracy
Always Take Some Shots from a Distance
- Category: Combat
- Increased by hitting enemies at a distance.
No matter how stealthy or sneaky a player is, there are times when aggressive encounters are unavoidable. While players may find themselves in melee scraps, being able to deal a lot of damage from a distance will make finishing off enemies a lot easier, so building up Accuracy is important.
Each level will reduce recoil and sway for the various weapons of the game. This allows for more hits and makes enemies easier to finish off. It can also make some enemies flee from players, allowing them to give chase and rack up some easy extra XP for this skill.
5 Fortitude
That Which Doesn’t Kill You, Makes You Stronger
- Category: Combat
- Increased by taking damage.
Fortitude is how much of a damage sponge a player can afford to be, but it will only increase from players taking damage. This means the more dangers a player lives through, the harder they are to kill from the next one.
Players will gain more health, regenerate health faster, take less fall damage, and have a chance to bounce melee enemy damage right back at them.
A safe way of increasing this skill is to let a single enemy on the verge of death get a few hits before finishing it off. Then recovering and getting stronger, as if they received a zenkai boost.
4 Cooking
Constantly Have Something on the Menu
- Category: Survival
- Increased by cooking recipes.
Survival has a wide range of useful skills; in fact, it hosts some of the most useful skills in Abiotic Factor. The more players cook, the more recipes they will have access to. Players should constantly be making food with what they have available to reap the benefits of a wide range of buffs.
Different recipes will top up Hunger and Thirst differently, so being able to whip something up while players are dying from both Hunger and Thirst to instantly counterbalance this can have players ready to overcome many dire situations.
Some recipes even give bonus XP.
3 Crafting
Opens the Doors to Numerous Upgrades
- Category: Survival
- Increased by crafting items.
Crafting is a vital aspect of the game. It is one that players will need to do a lot of in order to survive, and mastering it will let players progress and overcome hurdles far easier. There are many recipes that will come with leveling this skill.
As this skill levels up, players will gain new bench upgrades, additional durability, use fewer materials when crafting, decrease the time it takes to craft, and gain extremely useful crafting recipes.
2 First Aid
Keeping Players and Their Allies in the Game
- Category: Survival
- Increased through healing items.
Players will face many dangers in the game, and those with high fortitude will survive a lot longer than those without it. Once the danger is over, using healing items to patch themselves up will progress the first aid skill.
7 Games To Play If You Miss Half-Life
These games may scratch the permanent itch that was left behind by the iconic Half-Life game, with fans still holding out for a Half-Life 3.
Leveling First Aid will give other bonuses when healing, allowing players to heal more when using healing items, give new recipes, increase healing speeds, and give allies a chance to avoid death’s grasp through Extra Down.
1 Construction
Don’t Just Build a Base, Build the Best Base
- Category: Survival
- Increased by constructing and decorating.
Some players may not see the merit in this skill right away, and it may just seem like it allows them to build their base a bit faster.
However, as players gain levels in this skill, they will find that they can start crafting just as much with half the materials needed. All this saved material means players can have plenty of additional storage space and areas to rest. This also means they can heavily fortify their bases.
