An Abiotic Factor fan has garnered praise from a developer for custom animations they created for the game's firearms. Although most of the scientists in Abiotic Factor probably aren't used to firing guns, they'll need to learn quickly to have any hope of surviving the onslaught of anomalous entities invading their workplace.
Abiotic Factor is an open-world survival crafting game set in a secret research facility deep below the earth's surface. Inspired by Valve's Half-Life, up to six players take control of scientists trapped in the lab when paranormal creatures and artifacts breach the facility through portals to other dimensions. The scientists are tasked with crafting weapons and traps to fight off the monstrosities while building bases, collecting supplies, and exploring the depths of the underground labs.
Pokemon Fan Shows Off Impressive Redesigns of Hoenn Starters and Their Evolutions
One creative Pokemon fan redesigns the Gen 3 starters and their evolutions with bold new typings, themes, and visual inspirations.
A fan who goes by hoider uploaded a video to YouTube on July 21 showcasing their take on the reload animations for all of the guns in Abiotic Factor. Hoider, who has been uploading custom weapon animations to YouTube for over four years, shared in the video's description that the project had taken them six months to complete. Deep Field Games Art Director Connor Moran praised hoider's animations in a comment left on the same day the video was uploaded. "These are incredible, you absolutely nailed the vibe I was going for with each reload and just improved on it," wrote Connor, who goes by MadDok on YouTube. "Thanks for sharing!"
Abiotic Factor Fan Animation Draws Praise From The Game's Art Director
In the video's description, hoider explained that their goal was to reimagine the guns players can find in Abiotic Factor while maintaining their skill-based animations, which communicate the player character's Reloading skill by changing the animations as their skills increase. Players who invest time in building the Reloading skill will see their reload animations change at Level 15 and again at 20, which adds additional flair to the action. Following this concept, hoider has given each gun three unique reload animations that see the player's scientist go from clumsily bumping their magazine against the mag well for a few seconds to confidently loading their weapon and clearing the chamber in half the time.
Although the game originally debuted as a Steam Early Access title in May 2024, Abiotic Factor officially released on PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass on July 22. Featuring crossplay support for all platforms, there's never been a better time to explore the depths of Abiotic Factor's mysterious underground facility with a group of like-minded scientists.
