Players begin Abiotic Factor as research employees, but will quickly realize there is more than what meets the eye as they find themselves in a terrifying, hostile environment full of robots and monsters. Players, luckily, don't have to face these foes alone with the co-op system allowing up to six players. However, that leaves the question: what about crossplay?

Is there Crossplay in Abiotic Factor 1.0?

Crossplay allows players to enjoy multiplayer games across systems, including consoles, PCs, and Macs. While a game may be co-op, it might not be crossplay, so this distinction is crucial. Abiotic Factor, despite having such a small dev team, is complex and a blast to play with others. So, players will be happy to know that the Abiotic Factor 1.0 update did introduce crossplay to the survival game.

Crossplay isn't an automatic function, and players must enable it before diving in with their friends. Follow the steps below to enable crossplay in Abiotic Factor:

Open the Settings menu from the title screen.
Scroll to find Crossplay.
Click the check box to enable it.

Players can then start a game or join a friend's server. Once in the game, players can focus on getting their base set up and trying to figure out what in the world they've gotten themselves into.

Since players aren't able to friend each other on PCs and consoles, they must use a lobby code or IP address to join the same server.

How to Join a Crossplay Server in Abiotic Factor Using a Lobby Code

Those hosting the server can find the lobby code in the pause menu. Click on the eye to reveal and hide it for privacy. To join, use the Join a Game option on the title screen and insert the lobby code and password into the designated boxes.

How to Join a Crossplay Server in Abiotic Factor Using an IP Address

Using an IP Address is a little more complex. This option allows players to create a dedicated server for them and their friends to play on as they fight monsters and unlock more areas. Dedicated servers are much more customizable, private, and can be larger than online lobbies.

Dedicated servers are an option for players who want to host a game on their own server site using a third-party system. However, there is slight coding involved, and players must use a separate program to install and access the dedicated server.

Still, using the online lobbies is great for casual players who are enjoying the game and want to hop in immediately.
