Many Abyssus players have already stumbled upon a locked chest or a locked Vault Door, and wonder where to find Keys to open them. In this First Person Roguelite, which combines cosmic horror with non-stop dungeon crawling, nothing is as simple as it seems. Players need to gain every bit of power by sacrificing time and dozens of failed delves, until they master the game in its entirety.
Knowing how to find Keys helps a ton, since players will be able to obtain more rewards and even open the prized Vaults where they can find rare Artifacts, Boons, and, if they are lucky enough, a Merchant to trade their gold for more power-ups. This guide will teach Abyssus players how to find a Key for every lock.
How to Find Keys in Abyssus
Keys are obtained in only two possible ways. The first is to find it as a random drop from an unlocked chest, the second is to purchase it from Merchants in exchange for gold. Gold is a precious resource, but it drops by slaying enemies, destroying golden vases, or from chests, so it is good to exchange it for precious items like keys every time players have a chance.
Chests have a slightly low chance to drop keys (20%) alongside a very dim chance to drop keys and additional items like Gold (10%), or Charms (5%). The best way to get Keys in Abyssus is to enter cooperative play. The more players there are in the team, the better. The loot from chests is individual, and that means that every player will receive a different reward when they open a chest. This increases the chances of obtaining keys from every chest in each run.
Unlocking the 'Starting Funds' Tier 2 Perk from the Soul Wheel using Soul Fragments, will allow players to start the run with 1 Key and 50 extra gold. Can be upgraded one more time to a max of 2 Keys per run.
How to Use Keys in Abyssus
Keys are consumables, so players will carry them throughout the run until they find a Locked Chest or Locked Vault Door. In that case, they need to approach the lock and interact with it (using E) to break the lock, allowing them to loot the containers or enter the Vaults. On that note, Keys are not carried to the lobby beyond completion or if the player is defeated in a run, so use them while there's a chance.
What's more, players with keys can open locked Vault Doors or Locked chests for the rest of the team, and everyone can collect the rewards after that. The only exceptions are the items sold by Merchants inside the vaults, which are randomly generated, and every player needs to purchase them individually. In case the Vault contains a Chest, Forge Altar, or Boon Altar, all players can loot from the same container and obtain its rewards without the need to pay for them.
So, playing in cooperative mode is definitely the best way to obtain more keys and the correct way to make the most out of every locked container or Vault in the run.
