Ace Attorney Investigations Collection has been announced by Capcom. The upcoming bundle will finally allow fans to play some of the rarest Ace Attorney entries in existence.
Based on several review aggregators, Ace Attorney Investigations 2: Prosecutor's Gambit is widely regarded as one of the best Ace Attorney games ever made. But the highly-rated adventure never made its way out of Japan, where it was released as a Nintendo DS exclusive in 2011 before making its way to iOS and Android devices six years later.
Ace Attorney Investigations Series Coming to New Platforms in September 2024
Capcom has at last decided to localize Ace Attorney Investigations 2 as part of Ace Attorney Investigations Collection. Much like its name implies, this newly announced bundle will comprise both installments from the NDS spin-off series, including Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth, which originally debuted in Japan in 2009 before launching internationally in February of the following year. The collection is scheduled to hit the market on September 6, priced at $39.99 / €39.99.
Ace Attorney Investigations Collection Getting Region-Exclusive Physical Releases
While its reveal trailer debuted during the latest Nintendo Direct broadcast, Ace Attorney Investigations Collection will be available well beyond the Switch. Specifically, Capcom confirmed that the upcoming two-pack is also scheduled to launch for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The backward compatibility of Sony and Microsoft's current-gen consoles will ensure that the bundle is playable on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, as well. Capcom has also confirmed plans for a physical release, although with some unusual limitations. Namely, the retail edition of Ace Attorney Investigations Collection will be a Switch exclusive in the United States, while Europe is only getting its PS4 counterpart. It's currently unclear whether any other markets will receive a physical version of the bundle.
The long-awaited Western release of Ace Attorney Investigations 2: Prosecutor's Gambit is bound to be welcome news for the series' fans, many of whom have been asking for this localization for years. The upcoming two-pack may also be Capcom's way of testing the current level of public interest in the franchise before committing to a sequel. While there's no shortage of people who have already expressed their interest in a new Ace Attorney game, sales would ostensibly be a bigger factor than survey results in convincing Capcom to invest in such a project.
Aside from Ace Attorney Investigations Collection, the June 18 Nintendo Direct featured the reveals of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Super Mario Party Jamboree, and Mario & Luigi: Brotherhood. The gameplay reveal of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was also part of the broadcast, as was the announcement of Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics.
Ace Attorney is a series of narrative-driven visual novel adventures by Capcom. It started with the release of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney in October 2001.
