The most significant features of a wrestling game are the ability to change the settings and customize how wrestling matches play out. The Fire Pro Wrestling series and WWE 2K23 allow players to make the gameplay their own in ways that can replicate the wrestling shows and PPVs on television.

AEW Fight Forever is a more out-of-the-box fighting experience than a wrestling game. However, players can adjust the settings to make it a better experience in wrestling matches. Gamers can have back-and-forth wrestling matches in AEW Fight Forever that better represent the product on TV and make it closer to the AKI wrestling games like WWF No Mercy that inspired it.

Settings To Change In AEW Fight Forever

While it doesn't have the flexibility or range of features like WWE 2K23 or Fire Pro Wrestling World, there are several features that players can change to make AEW Fight Forever a better experience. The Match options in AEW Fight Forever are the first a player needs to adjust. To change the match options, use the following steps:

  • On the title screen, press the Y on the Xbox, Triangle on the PlayStation, X on the Switch, or click on the cogwheel on a PC.
  • In the options screen, highlight the wrestling ring icon.
  • Blood - switch this to on or off depending on preference.
  • Difficulty - Players can choose Easy, Normal, and Hard levels. Elite can be unlocked after completing the Road to Elite mode. Start on the Easy or Normal levels until the timing of reversals becomes second nature. Players that are used to the mechanics and want back-and-forth matches should opt for Hard and Elite.
  • Entrance Guide - This allows players to see the prompts for Pyro and effects in wrestler entrances. Pressing the face and direction buttons will work the Pyro without the prompts onscreen.
  • Guide Hud - Guide Hud shows when players can pin signatures or finishers on their opponents. It's better to leave this on until players are used to the mechanics. However, experienced players may prefer the immersion of switching off all prompts and Hud guides.
  • Gameplay Assist Effects - An indicator will flash when wrestlers make successful counters and make tags. It's helpful to keep this on as a beginner, but turn it off for immersion when more experienced.
  • Reduce Camera Shaking - This is down to personal preference. This gives the game WWE Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain- style shakes when a wrestler hits a big move giving the illusion of weight and impact.
  • Referee - Players can choose Audrey Edwards or Rick Knox as their referees.

Control Options For AEW Fight Forever

After adjusting the match options for AEW Fight Forever, players should highlight the controller icon in the options menu and modify the following settings:

  • Manual Targeting - Players should switch this on to manually target multiple wrestlers and managers at the click of a button. It is an invaluable feature in a tag team match and gives the player more control.
  • Casual Mode - Switch this off so players can manually utilize their favorite moves without the AI choosing for the player.
  • Easy Countering - Switching this on will mean the player has a better chance to reverse and counter grapples and strikes without needing to predict a strike or a grapple move.

That's everything a player needs to understand the settings better and have back-and-forth matches in AEW Fight Forever.

AEW Fight Forever is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
