With only seven Tank characters to choose from, fans of AFK Journey will need to take some time to choose the right option for their teams. Spending a lot of Diamonds and Invite Letters on a Tank with poor stats won't get anyone very far. With this in mind, here are the best Tank characters.
7 Chippy
Cute, But No Very Useful

Chippy is the first Tank character players will get in AFK Journey, serving as one of Merlin's familiars. It makes sense why he was introduced as a starter character because this is pretty much the only time he can be of use to the team. Chippy is a default character that will not provide much aid later on.
What really destroys Chippy's chance of being higher in the rankings is his lackluster Attack, HP, and even DEF. Every other Tank on this list has higher base stats that will ensure they can stay alive and protect the rest of the team. Chippy, on the other hand, will most likely be the first character to fall into players' teams, therefore defeating the purpose of his Tank title.
6 Lumont
A Surprisingly Weak Tank

Lumont is certainly an improvement from Chippy, who appears on the surface to be an incredibly powerful Tank. After all, he is a rhino. Unfortunately, though, there are a lot of areas where Lumont could certainly be improved. Lumont does have an impressively high HP stat, making it much less likely for him to be knocked down compared to Chippy.
Lumont's ATK and Ranged DEF are quite low, so even if the character can survive on the field, he won't be dishing out as much damage as the rest of the team. Placing him in the front row to protect the team won't do a lot either when enemies use any ranged attacks. Overall, there are better options available to players.
5 Lucius
A Decent Starter Shield

Just a step up above Lumont, we have Lucius. AFK Journey fans will unlock him early on in the game, and he will serve as a great starter. He has decent shielding and healing to protect the team against early bosses and enemies, especially in the Dream Realm, but he won't get players very far once they get into the more advanced battles.

Outside of his healing, Lucius has relatively low base HP and ATK stats. He might be able to heal the team, but it won't be worth much if he's already knocked out due to a lacking HP stat. He also lacks Vitality, making it harder for him to shield and protect himself. Players will find that Lucius just doesn't last long enough on the battlefield to be worth keeping.
4 Granny Dahnie
An Impressive Tank With High Defense

Granny Dahnie is where the game really starts to get into the strong Tanks. With great stats all around, Granny Dahnie won't go down quickly when on the battlefield. She boasts an impressive DEF and decent ATK stats, allowing her to work as a solo Tank to not only protect the team but deal significant damage to opponents too.
Granny Dahnie utilizes powerful skills as well. Not only can she absorb an enemy's HP and reduce their Haste and Energy, but she can also buff her own Vitality, Phys DEF, and Magic DEF. The only thing that holds Granny Dahnie back from reaching the top ranks is her base ATK stat, which can use a bit of a buff.
3 Antandra
An Improved Shielder Option

Similar to Lucius, Antandra really shines as a Tank due to the fact that she can heal her team. This allows her to function essentially as a Tank and an additional Support, with high HP to keep her active on the battlefield. Players will also find that Antandra can easily reduce incoming damage to the team with shields, while also reducing an enemy's ATK stat, making her a character worth pulling on the banners.
Outside of debuffing enemies, Antandra can increase her own Phys DEF and heal herself significantly with added Vitality. Similar to Granny Dahnie, however, Antandra could see a bit of an improvement in her ATK stat. Her ATK is decent enough to get by, but she will certainly leave the majority of the damage dealt to the other team members.
2 Temesia
A Powerful All-rounder

Temesia is a great all-rounder character. She has great DEF stats and a few skills that can protect her as she charges forward to attack the enemy. She also already has a high Base ATK that she can buff further with her Hero Focus skill. Her massive HP will ensure she stays active on the field as well.

Perhaps the best aspect of Temesia is her Crit Resist stat, coming in at a base amount of 33.8 percent. Players won't find any character with a higher Crit Resist than her, thereby ensuring her stability on the field. With the ability to resist just about anything thrown her way, Temesia will have no problem securing victory against the enemy, making her a fantastic character for players to add to their wishlist.
1 Thoran
One Of The Best Defenders And Destroyers

Though Thoran's Base Phys DEF and Magic DEF might throw gamers off, every other stat he has blown all other Tanks out of the water. With the highest Base ATK and HP by far, there's hardly a chance of Thoran being the first to fall in battle. Before any enemies even have the chance to attack him, he will already have taken them down with his impressive attack and skills.
Even if Thoran does fall in battle, he is one of the few characters who can completely revive himself after being defeated. Along with this, he can easily heal himself, take damage for another team member to protect them, increase his Energy Recovery, and retaliate to enemy attacks by multiplying the damage dealt to him. Thoran is the best Tank a player could hope for, with amazing abilities that will ensure the team is fully safeguarded.
