How to Farm Food

Food is the most varied resource in the game because it can be obtained from multiple sources. From hunting and farming to fishing and berry picking, there are all sorts of ways to gather Food in Age of Mythology: Retold.

The most straightforward way to get Food in Age of Mythology: Retold is to pick berries or hunt wild animals. In this case, gamers will want to place down a Granary near their source of Food. This way, Villagers can quickly drop off the Food and go back to work. The closer the Granary is to the Food source, the less time they'll waste walking from one place to the other.

Placing down farms around the Town Center and putting down a couple of fishing boats near a Dock will passively increase the player's Food output, as their Villagers will continue to work and gamers won't have to command them. However, these sources don't generate as much produce.

Additionally, players should also make sure they keep their civilization's herd animals nearby while they continue to fatten up. Unlike huntable animals, herd animals can be selected and freely moved. Once the fat meter is full, that means they're ready to be slaughtered and will be a great source of Food. Gamers can also interact with a Granary to research Husbrandy and further improve Villager's ability herd animals and their overall carry capacity - which is useful for gathering Wood and Gold as well.

How to Farm Wood

Wood is crucial to creating new buildings, producing units, and unlocking upgrades. There are trees on various areas of the map that can be chopped for Wood. However, it's impossible to move them so the best way to farm Wood in Age of Mythology: Retold is to build a Storehouse near a forest. This way, Villagers can continue to harvest the wood and the player won't have to waste resources on building more Storehouses than necessary.

On most maps, Gold will be the least abundant resource. However, it takes a lot of mining to deplete a Gold source, so gamers won't have to worry about finding an optimal location.

To farm Gold in Age of Mythology, simply place a Storehouse by a Gold node that's relatively close one of the player's settlements. This way, if a raid takes place, gamers can quickly call their Villagers back to base or send in some Military units to protect them.

If players find themselves with a surplus of one resource, they can trade it for a resource their empire lacks by building a Market once they reach the Heroic Age and trading the goods.

Favor is another important resource in the game. However, acquiring it depends on the civilization that the player chose at the start of the game. To learn about it, be sure to check out guide on how to earn Favor in Age of Mythology: Retold.
