Prometheans are one of the various Myth Units that fans can build in Age of Mythology: Retold, but in order to do so, they'll have to choose a specific civilization and Pantheon. This guide explains the required steps to unlocking Promethean units in Age of Mythology: Retold.
How to Unlock Promethean Units
There are various myth units in Age of Mythology: Retold that are exclusive to Atlantean civilizations, and Prometheans are one of them. However, they're not always available - gamers must make Pantheon and Minor God choices to access these units.
To unlock the technology to build Promethean units in Age of Mythology: Retold, players must select Prometheus as their Minor God when advancing to the Classical Age; the only Pantheons that can choose this Minor God are Kronos and Oranos.
If players choose Prometheus instead of Oceanus or Leto, they'll receive a free Promethean unit as soon as they enter the Classical Age. Players can create more Promethean units at the Temple if they have the required resources:
- 75 Food
- 8 Favor
On top of this, their civilization needs to have two free population spots available.
How to Use Promethean Units
Prometheans are decent units in the early game. However, they're not the best when it comes to Myth Units in Age of Mythology; they're slow and can be easily taken down in battle later on in the game. Prometheans have one perk that causes them to stand out: when they're eliminated, they produce two offspring, which can continue to fight.

How to Improve Promethean Units
Players can make Promethean units better by upgrading them at the Temple with Alluvial Clay.
When gamers choose Prometheus as their Minor God, they also get access to the Alluvial Clay technology, which they can unlock for 140 Food and 10 Favor. Researching Alluvial Clay increases Promethean hitpoints as well as the offspring's by 30 percent. So, the upgraded Prometheans have 228 HP and the offspring have 104 HP. On top of that, it also makes it so an additional offspring spawns when a Promethean dies.
