Akatsuki no Yona has been in serialization since 2009, and since then, it has become the go-to shoujo manga. It has earned a great deal of critical acclaim, and it will continue to grow with time. Unfortunately, like all good things, Akatsuki no Yona has to end as well. Fans always knew that the day would come when they would have to part ways with the manga, but they never expected it to happen so quickly.
In a recent report, it was confirmed that Akatsuki no Yona will be ending in three chapters. This is actually massive news for fans, as there isn't much time left before the series concludes. Readers who have been following the series for years will certainly be heartbroken, as nobody wants their favorite series to ever end. However, there are a couple of positives. First, it increases the likelihood of an anime adaptation being announced. At the time of writing, only one season of Akatsuki no Yona had been released. It premiered in 2014 and was produced by Studio Pierrot. A total of 24 episodes were released, and all of them received a positive reception from the audience.
A series as good as Akatsuki no Yona deserves a second season, but so far, the studio has not shared any statement. However, there is a chance that the manga's conclusion would put more pressure on the studio and the people involved with the decision to announce a new season.
The second positive is that new readers will be able to read the entire manga without having to wait for a new chapter. All manga and even anime fans have gone through the phase where waiting for seven days felt like an eternity. When the manga finally ends, readers will be able to finish the story without any interruptions.

With the manga set to end, it means that the industry will lose another behemoth. But there is no doubt that a new manga will take its place, or at least try to replicate its success. Unfortunately, the manga industry has become much more ruthless, and publishers don't give too much breathing room to new titles. In fact, a lot of titles have been axed just a couple of months after their release. Due to the more rigid policies, only high-quality manga survive the chop.
Shueisha's Shonen Jump is facing the challenge of attracting new viewers, especially after Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia ended in 2024. Both manga have sold over 100 million, which makes them part of an elusive list. Any new manga will find it tricky to even get close to these numbers. However, Shueisha still has time to find another gold mine, as Eiichiro Oda's One Piece is still ongoing. The manga has sold more than 500 million copies worldwide, making it the best-selling manga in history. Given the current status, it seems that One Piece will go on for at least another four or five years. Some fans believe that Ichi the Witch and Kagurabachi are the next big hits, but their numbers aren't as good.
