Given the survival horror style and feel of Alan Wake 2, players will be acquiring a number of powerful weapons to help them battle the shadowy Taken foes that stalk its world. No true survival horror title would be complete without a selection of shotguns and accompanying puzzles that often guard them, and Alan Wake 2 does not disappoint in this department. While players can grab a sawed-off version of the iconic firearm for Saga early on, they will need to progress a bit further in her story to find the superior pump-action model.

How To Get Pump-Action Shotgun Code In Alan Wake 2

Players will be able to snag this devastating armament after completing Alan Wake 2's Valhalla Nursing Home and Wellness Center sections, as well as the Overlap encounter in Saga's chapter Return 5: Old Gods. Afterward, the objective will update to head over to the Bright Falls Sheriff's Station.

Returning, players will find a wounded Federal Bureau of Control agent, Kiran Esteves, hiding in a closet, who will hand over the keys to the rest of the station after Saga clears out the Taken that have invaded it. For those players wishing to get straight to it, the pump-action shotgun is in Sheriff Tim Breaker’s office, and the code for it is 7-2-3.

Though the actual location of the pump-action shotgun in Alan Wake 2 is not all that difficult to find, piecing together the nearby hints to decipher the correct code to unlock the case it's stored behind may present some players with a bit of an issue. It relies on brain-teasing detective work, using an alphabetic encryption code and finding interesting clues about the shotgun's owner. For those players who are curious about how the puzzle is meant to be solved, the steps are below.

At the far northwestern end of the station is Sheriff Tim Breaker's office. Glancing around the room, players will notice a desk terminal with a note beside it. The note also has a drawing of a book surrounded by what appears to be glowing energy, which is another important clue. Examining it more closely shows the letters of the alphabet corresponding to numbers, such that A=1, B=2, C=3, etc. Notably, when it reaches double digits, only the second digit will be used in the code. For example, L would=12, and in that case only the 2 counts.

Also, on the desk, players will see three UFO-related books that are part of an ordered series. Part one is penned by Quincey, part two by Batston, and finally, part three by Westmore. Players are meant to use the initials of the authors' last names to decipher the code. Thus, Q, B, and W are the letters needed. Matching these to the cipher reveals the pump-action shotgun code is 7-2-3

The alphabet code is A=1, B=3, C=3, etc. When it reaches double digits, only the second digit is needed.

Note the first letter of the surnames of the UFO book authors, in the order of the series 1-3; Q, B, W.

Match those initials to the alphabet cipher to yield the code 7-2-3.

Once they open the case, players will receive the Stop Right There Trophy/Achievement. With the pump-action shotgun in their inventory, players stand a better chance of fending off any further Taken as Saga continues searching for Alan in the station.
