Pet Mutations were added to Grow a Garden as part of the Pet Mutation update, which was released in July of 2025. They allow players to enhance the existing traits of their pets, or, in some cases, add brand-new traits entirely. To get a pet mutation, players will need to grow their pet to Level 50 and then take it to the Pet Mutation machine over by Raphael's Egg Shop. After paying 500 million Sheckles and waiting for sixty minutes, a random mutation will be applied.
Grow a Garden: Best Pets Tier List
Grow a Garden has added many adorable pets that give your crops some great perks; here's the list of the most to least valuable ones.
There are 15 Grow a Garden pet mutations as of the time of writing, with some being a lot better than others. Certain pet mutations can be very situational, with their value determined by the aims of the player and how well they complement the existing traits of the pet. If Roblox players aren't happy with the mutation that they get, they can always put their pet back into the machine and get a new one, although they'll need to get the pet back up to level 50 before they can do so.
Updated August 2, 2025, by Tom Bowen: A new Grow a Garden Pet Mutation was introduced as part of the Trading & Cooking Update, bringing the total number of possible mutations up to 15. This guide now includes information about the Fried pet mutation. The odds for all of the other Grow a Garden Pet Mutations have also been adjusted.

What Are the Best Pet Mutations in Grow a Garden?
Ascended is by far the best Grow a Garden pet mutation, as Dawnbound increases a plant's value by 150x and is currently the best crop mutation in the game. Rainbow is another great option and works well with pretty much every pet in the game, while IronSkin pairs well with the Ankylosaurus, which can be hatched out of Primal Eggs. Conversely, Golden is the worst pet mutation, as it's objectively worse than Rainbow. Shiny, Inverted, Tiny, and Mega aren't all that great either, but they at least speed up growth, making it easier for players to get their pet back up to level 50 and rereoll for a better pet mutation.
