Black Myth: Wukong offers you lots of ways to adjust your equipment, allowing you to equip armor and gear that enhances your preferred playstyle. One way you can do this is by adding "soaks" to your healing drinks, which apply extra effects whenever you take a sip.
Finding and using soaks in Black Myth: Wukong can be tremendously helpful, especially when facing difficult bosses and encounters, and they can be found scattered throughout the game. This guide will explain where to find three soaks in the first chapter: Black Wind Mountain.
Black Myth Wukong: How To Get Pre-Order Bonuses
This guide will help players claim all the pre-bonuses available in Black Myth Wukong.
Unlocking Soaks and Getting the Gall Gem
You'll unlock soaks after meeting Shen Monkey, who is being accosted by a Snake Guai near the end of the Bamboo Grove area. After defeating it a cutscene will play where he invites you to join him in a nearby cave and mentions that snake gall is good when "steeped in drink." Take him up on his offer and head into the cave, where he acts as a merchant and can upgrade your gourd. You can also apply soaks to your healing drink here, and meeting Shen Monkey also unlocks this ability at all shrines.
The
Gall Gem, automatically acquired after the cutscene, will increase your poison resistance for a time after you sip your healing drink. This would have been very useful when fighting the many Snake Guai in the Bamboo Grove up to this point.
Celestial Lotus Seeds
Shen Monkey also sells a soak you can use, the
Celestial Lotus Seeds. They'll set you back 2,400 Will, but they apply a health regeneration over time effect that can prove useful during tougher fights. You should have picked up plenty of gold by this point, so sell some to Shen Monkey if necessary so you can pick this up as soon as possible.
Tender Jade Lotus
The final soak available in Chapter 1 is a special case, since it can randomly appear whenever you harvest
Jade Lotus. In Chapter 1, you can find Jade Lotus in several locations, including just before the Black Wind Cave: Cave Interior Shrine. Since
Tender Jade Lotus is received at random when harvesting
Jade Lotus in the world, it could potentially be found earlier or later than this if you get lucky (or unlucky.)
Tender Jade Lotus provides the Destined One with a defense boost for a short time after drinking their healing drink.
