How to Unlock Characters in Umamusume Pretty Derby
As of now, there are 27 characters in Umamusume: Pretty Derby, but not all of them will be available right from the start. You'll get the following horsegirls for free:
- Gold Ship
- Vodka
- Daiwa Scarlet
- Sakura Bakushin
- Haru Urara
To unlock the rest, you’ll need to pull them through the Gacha using Carats or spend 150 Star Pieces on their Trainee profile under “Enhance.” If you’re wondering how to get Star Pieces, you’ll receive a statue each time you scout a duplicate horsegirl in the Gacha. These statues can then be exchanged for Star Pieces in the Game Shop. Once you've got a trainee, you can start her training journey.
Make sure to level up your Umamusumes to gain more skills beyond the basics. Maxing out their Star Unlocks will upgrade their Unique Skill, give them a Spark based on that skill once they become Veterans, and even get new outfits they can wear during daily events or concerts.
