The open world of Satisfactory is huge, and since not every resource can be found in just one place, players are expected to create logistics networks with vehicles in mind. There are a number of vehicles in the game, and while not all of them are meant to be driven around, players can definitely do so if they choose to.
Exploring the map on foot is going to be a chore, and connecting lines of conveyor belts in Satisfactory isn't exactly recommended if the distance covers half the map. Vehicles will be needed to ensure good efficiency, and if you're wondering what options are available, here's a short guide covering all vehicles in the game, their unlock and research costs, as well as their intended uses.
Satisfactory: How to Get Automated Wiring
Automated Wiring is a Project Assembly part that you'll need in order to progress the story in Satisfactory. Here's how to get it.
How To Craft Vehicles In Satisfactory
The first thing players need to do before they can start building vehicles is to unlock them by progressing through HUB Tiers. Both the crafting specs and necessary materials needed to make vehicles are locked behind upgrades. One tip for new Satisfactory players is to always keep expanding your factory so you can upscale production and get to those advanced recipes quicker.
After unlocking a vehicle's blueprints, players can craft them by entering Build mode and selecting the Transport tab. All vehicles and other forms of travel, such as Hypertubes, can be found here. Pick a vehicle you'd like to build, then place it like you would any other object.
Tractor
Simple And Slow Factory Workhorse
- Blueprint: Tier 3 - Vehicular Transport
- Build Cost: 5x Modular Frame, 5x Rotor, 10x Reinforced Iron Plate
The Tractor is a small, well-rounded vehicle for exploration and factory operations. It's surprisingly fast for its appearance, and it can be automated to deliver materials to and from Truck Stations. Tractors have 25 inventory slots, and their small size makes them good for players who choose Satisfactory starting areas like the forest and desert biomes, where some resource nodes are found in cramped spots.
Truck
For Large And Long Hauls
- Blueprint: Tier 5 - Logistics Mk. 4
- Build Cost: 15x Motor, 20x Encased Industrial Beam, 20x Modular Frame, 50x Rubber
The Truck is the larger brother of the Tractor with 48 inventory slots instead of 25 and a higher maximum speed, making this one more suited for larger hauls over longer distances. However, it has poor handling, and its sheer size makes it difficult to work with when space is an issue. Also, players must first be able to craft materials like Motors in Satisfactory before they can build this vehicle.
Satisfactory: How To Change Ammo Types
Players will want to know how to change their ammo in Satisfactory if they want to get the most out of the game's different ranged weapons.
Explorer
Agile Dune Buggy
- Blueprint: MAM - Quartz Research
- Build Cost: 5x Crystal Oscillator, 5x Motor, 10x Modular Frame, 15x Steel Pipes
The Explorer is, as its name suggests, designed primarily for exploring the map. It is significantly faster than the Tractor and Truck, and noticeably more agile as well when it comes to making sharp turns or drifting. Apart from charting the map, the Explorer is best used for traveling between factories, as its small storage space of only 12 slots makes it less than ideal for automatically hauling cargo.
Drones
Aerial Delivery Bots
- Blueprint: Tier 8 - Aeronautical Engineering
-
Build Cost
- Drone Port: 20x Heavy Modular Frame, 20x High Speed Connector, 50x Alclad Aluminum Sheet, 50x Aluminum Casing, 10x Radio Control Unit
- Drones: 4x Motor, 10x Alclad Aluminum Sheet, 1x Radio Control Unit, 2x AI Limiter, 1x Portable Miner
Drones are flying vehicles, and unlike all the others, these cannot be piloted manually. Drones must be built on Drone Ports, and their job is to carry materials from one port to another. You can stand on them as they take off, but it won't take long before you get thrown off. Players who are looking for some means of aerial transport should use a Jetpack in Satisfactory instead.
Trains (Electric Locomotives)
Maximum Speed And Carrying Capacity
- Blueprint: Tier 6 - Monorail Train Technology
-
Build Cost
- Train Station: 10x Encased Industrial Beam, 50x Plastic, 50x Concrete, 200x Copper Wire
- Electric Locomotive: 5x Modular Frame, 10x Motor, 20x Steel Pipe, 20x Rubber, 50x Copper Wire
Trains (or Electric Locomotives) are perhaps the most complicated of the vehicles in Satisfactory. While players can conduct them manually, they'll need to learn how to setup railway networks and edit timetables if they want to automate the loading and unloading process. It'll all be worth it, though, as Freight Cars can be attached to Electric Locomotives to let them 32 inventory slots' worth of items (or up to 1600 cubic meters worth of liquids).
