Destiny 2 saw yet another overhaul to its armor system with the launch of Edge of Fate. This time, every single stat found on armor pieces was reworked, drastically changing how builds are optimized and how strong players can get as they acquire more loot. Weapons were also affected, though not as drastically.
Armor stats now play an even larger part in Edge of Fate compared to previous Destiny 2 expansions, and if you want to min-max your character, you'll need to understand how these Armor 3.0 changes work. This guide covers every weapon and armor stat in the game, including the important things you need to know when it comes to buildcrafting.
Destiny 2: All Edge of Fate Artifact Mods
The Implement of Curiosity Artifact for Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate has quite the selection of mods, and here's a comprehensive list of them all.
Destiny 2: What Changed in Armor 3.0?
Previously, Destiny 2 had six armor stats (Recovery, Resilience, Mobility, Discipline, Intelligence, and Strength). Each stat could go up to 100, but they only provided benefits if they reached multiples of 10, essentially giving players 10 different levels of power according to how high a certain stat was.
In Edge of Fate, stats now scale for every point an armor piece offers, and most (if not all) have been completely reworked, and all your existing armor pieces (including Exotics) have been converted to fit into this system. The new stats are as follows:
|
Stat |
Effect |
|---|---|
|
Health |
Increases the health you receive when picking up Orbs of Power as well as your Flinch resistance. Points above 100 increase your Shields against combatants and overall Shield recharge rate. |
|
Melee |
Reduces your melee ability's cooldown and increases melee energy regen from all sources. Points above 100 increase the damage dealt by your melee attacks. |
|
Grenade |
Reduces your grenade cooldown and increases grenade energy regeneration from all sources. Points above 100 increase the damage dealt by grenades. |
|
Super |
Increases the amount of Super energy you get from all sources. Points over 100 increase your Super damage. |
|
Class |
Reduces your class ability regeneration and improves class energy regen gained from all sources. When above 100 points, you gain an Overshield every time you use a class ability. |
|
Weapons |
Increases your weapon reload speed, handling, and damage against minor and major combatants. Points above 100 increase your weapon damage against bosses and Guardians, and Ammo Bricks from defeated targets have a chance to give additional ammo. |
Armor stats can now reach 200 points, and each point you have above 100 gives you various bonuses based on the stat itself. Players who want to make grenade-focused builds, for example, should definitely try to get their Grenade stat all the way to 200. Of course, this may come at the cost of having less health/shields or weaker damage with everything else, but the drawbacks tend to be worth it.
All Weapon Stats in Destiny 2
Weapons did not get reworked in Edge of Fate, so you can expect all of their stats to be the same as they were before. For newer players, here's what each of those stats do:
- Impact: A general measure of a weapon's damage output. A weapon's Impact stat is always relative to other weapons in its class — a Hand Cannon may have 100 Impact, but it will still deal less damage compared to a Sniper Rifle with a lower Impact stat.
- Handling: Dictates ADS speed, weapon swap/stow speed, and general gun snappiness.
- Stability: Affects a weapon's recoil.
- Relaod Speed: Affects how quickly you reload.
- Aim Assistance: Dictates how strongly a weapon is affected by aim assist and bullet magnetization. The latter also affects mouse and keyboard players..
- Zoom: Affects how much your weapon's sight zooms in while aiming.
- Airborne Effectiveness: Affects your weapon's accuracy and aim assist potency while in the air.
- Ammo Generation: Affects how quickly your weapon builds up the Special and Heavy Ammo gauges.
All of these stats were present even before Edge of Fate launched except for Ammo Generation. This stat makes ammo drops less random and more deterministic, and it can possibly lead to some builds that make frequent use of Heavy and Special ammo.
