The Alone in the Dark reboot has now been delayed from its planned release date of January 16, 2024 to March 20, 2024. The original Alone in the Dark is credited with creating many of the survival-horror concepts that were then built on by Capcom's Resident Evil. Unfortunately, the Alone in the Dark franchise hasn't been nearly as successful as the games it's inspired.
Whereas Capcom's Resident Evil has pumped out one new game after another over the years, the same can't be said for Alone in the Dark. In fact, the last time a traditional single-player Alone in the Dark game was released was 2008's Alone in the Dark. Alone in the Dark was originally supposed to make its big comeback in October 2023, but the decision was made to delay its release date to avoid competing with the other major games that were releasing that month, like Spider-Man 2, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and Alan Wake 2.

Instead, it's so the developers at Pieces Interactive don't have to stress about getting the game ready for launch during the holidays. In this version, Edward Carnby is played by David Harbour, while Emily Hartwood is portrayed by Jodie Comer. Players will be tasked with exploring the creepy Derceto Manor, all the while experiencing a story written by Mikael Hedberg, who previously worked on popular horror games like Amnesia: The Dark Descent and SOMA.
