After the crash landing that stranded Jan Dolski in The Alters, several cargo drops have been scattered across the planet's surface. You can collect these during your playthrough of The Alters to find personal items that your Alters will appreciate, and some of them even have movies to add to your collection or Damaged Chips that can be used to upgrade your base.
There are only a handful of cargo drops in each act of The Alters, and quite a few of them are hidden away from the main path that you'll follow when you're setting up supply chains and establishing new mining outposts. It's highly recommended to go out of your way to look for these, though, as the mood boosts that personal items provide to Alters can make a huge difference in their productivity and loyalty.

The Alters Act 1 Cargo Drop Locations
Here's a map of every cargo drop you can find in Act 1 of The Alters. There are three personal items, one movie, and one Damaged Chip to find during this part of the story.
Personal Item
The first personal item is found in a cargo drop between the deep deposits of Metals and Enriched Metals right next to the base.
Damaged Chip
The Damaged Chip in Act 1 is found in a cargo pod right next to the Minerals deep deposit at the southern edge of the map. You have to walk right by it to progress the main story, so you can't miss it.
Personal Item
The next personal item is found in a cargo drop just down the path from the Damaged Chip. It's behind the rock formation blocking access to the Organics deposit by the base.
People Who Always Finish Your Sentences Movie
There's only a single movie to find in Act 1, and it's located on the other side of the lava river just past the Minerals deep deposit. You'll find it near a bunch of anomalies, so take it slow to avoid damage.
Personal Item
The final cargo drop for Act 1 is located across the lava river near the Interal Vein, an important part of Act 1's story. You'll walk right into it if you use the Luminator to follow the trail from the Interal Vein to collect a Planetary Sample.
This isn't required to complete the first act of The Alters, but it's an urgent request from the Scientist Alter and Planetary Samples are an incredibly important resource used to unlock special research upgrades.
