The Batman Part II's script has been a hot topic within the entertainment industry lately, with fans eager to hear a positive update from Matt Reeves about what he has planned for the movie. After delays and confusion over whether Robert Pattinson's portrayal of the Dark Knight will or won't be part of the DC Universe, there are certainly a lot more questions than answers right now.

Ultimately, The Batman Part II isn't expected to be released until October 1, 2027. Still, given how critically and commercially popular the first movie was, fans want to see some developments taking place. Finally, A The Batman: Part 2 Update Brings Positive News

Following disappointing update after disappointing update, fans finally got some good news about The Batman 2.

Andy Serkis got to play the iconic Alfred Pennyworth during The Batman, putting together a unique connection with Bruce Wayne that was slightly different from what fans have come to know and love in previous iterations. However, people are keen to see that relationship develop further due to the brilliant on-screen chemistry Serkis and Pattinson had, and The Lord of the Rings star has given an update on how the script is growing during an interview at the Filming Italy Sardegna Festival 2025.

"I'm absolutely certain you'll see The Batman 2, I know that the script is being finished at the moment. Matt Reeves is a formidable and wonderful filmaker and he would not want it to go forward until, in his mind, the script is where he needs it to be. He's one of the most exacting and dedicated storytellers that I've worked with. So, I can assure you there will be another one."

This falls in line with what DC Studios CEO James Gunn recently had to say about the script, as he confirmed that it was due to be handed in at some stage in June. However, Gunn didn't hold back on his thoughts regarding how fans have been treating Reeves throughout the process. He admitted to being "irritated by people" regarding how they're acting in an "entitled" manner when demanding answers about the movie. Instead, Gunn wants the screenplay to be revealed when it's ready, with the focus being on the quality over anything else.

It is currently unknown if this version of Batman will be added to the DCU that Gunn is creating right now, with that franchise set to kickstart this summer with the release of Superman. Gunn has hinted that the answer to that question might be no, but he has also revealed that he prefers a darker and more serious version of Batman, which is a box that Pattinson's portrayal certainly ticks.

Whether Serkis returns for The Batman Part II will remain to be seen, and he's likely awaiting a script just as much as everyone else involved in the movie is. However, the one thing that is clear is that the interest is extremely high for this superhero movie, which is a positive sign for Reeves but something that also increases the pressure. Gunn has made it clear he won't just push out a DC movie for the sake of it if the script isn't up to standard; therefore, there's little need for him to rush. However, the signs are positive for fans of this character, with The Batman Part II being actively worked on, and now all that remains to be seen is if it will be added to the wider DCU franchise.
