Bugs in Animal Crossing: New Horizons were added gradually for months after the game was initially released, and now there are 80 for players to catch and collect. The developer took the same approach with sea creatures in the game, choosing to build upon the initial foundations to keep the game fresh for new players. The approach has been rewarded by a thriving community even three years after release, despite the release of no DLC since the Happy Home Paradise expansion back in late-2021.
In the clip by Redditor KingChap, the player pulls out their net, and attempts to catch a butterfly. They miss multiple times and even have to chase the bug around the island before missing again. Only at the very end of the clip do they manage to actually catch the bug, after many swings of the net. While it's not a particularly rare critter to catch in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the length of the chase must have made this an extremely satisfying one to finally grab. Others in the thread complained about the general difficulty of using the net, with some sharing the experience with leaves and snowflakes, too.
Some Redditors took a more optimistic approach to the clip, with one player rejoicing that it wasn't a tarantula, or some other bug that would attempt to get the player back. One thing is for sure - this player would likely struggle to build an Animal Crossing bug-themed room if this is the trouble they face catching a single butterfly.

However, Nintendo has remained radio silent on any news about a future iteration in the franchise. Animal Crossing: New Horizons was a big seller upon release, owing much to its perfectly-timed release around the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, when many were looking for ways to pass the time. It would be a huge surprise if an Animal Crossing game wasn't in the works at Nintendo right now, with it remaining one of the company's flagship franchises.
