Acquiring the regular type of Snowflake in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is as easy as swinging your net when you see them falling, but getting Large Snowflakes takes a little more effort than that, and a lot more time.
That said, it is worth adding the task of getting Large Snowflakes in Animal Crossing: New Horizons to your list of dailies, as they're only available during the Winter season in your Hemisphere. So, it's good to have a stock built up in your storage in ACNH should you ever need them to make something during other seasons. To help you achieve this, this guide details how to get Large Snowflakes, how to get more than one a day, and how to build a perfect Snowboy.
How to Get Zelda Villagers & Items in Animal Crossing New Horizons
Players can get Tears of the Kingdom villagers and other Zelda goodies in Animal Crossing: New Horizons - here's how.
Updated on January 17, 2026 by Jessica Orr: Building a perfect Snowboy is a difficult task to complete if you've never done it before, or it's been a while since you last visited your island, and your brain isn't playing ball with remembering the process. So, to help you out even more, we've split this guide into three sections to answer everything you need to know about Large Snowflakes in ACNH, including how to build a perfect Snowboy, and how to get more than one Large Snowflake a day.
How to Get Large Snowflakes in Animal Crossing New Horizons
You need to build a perfect Snowboy to get a Large Snowflake in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. As you might have guessed, Snowboys are the game's take on traditional snowmen, and you get the chance to make one per day by rolling a smaller snowball into a larger snowball. You can only make one a day because only two snowballs are randomly placed on your island each day.
As well as dishing out Large Snowflakes for your perfect efforts, Snowboys reward you with DIY recipes for items in the Frozen series, which in turn require Large Snowflakes to craft.
How to Make a Perfect Snowboy
An easy way to make a perfect Snowboy in ACNH is by rolling one snowball until its height is just above your character's ears, then rolling the other snowball until its height is just under your character's mouth. Then, all you need to do is roll the smaller snowball into the larger one to magically create a perfect Snowboy.
If you do it the other way round and roll the larger snowball into the smaller one, you get a funny-looking Snowboy who is not amused by your efforts, and won't reward any Large Snowflakes or DIY recipes.
How to Get More Than One Large Snowflake a Day
Perfect Snowboys continue to give you Large Snowflakes on every day of their existence, regardless of what stage their melting process is at. So, given that each Snowboy lasts four days before it disappears, all you need to do is talk to all the perfect Snowboys on your island to receive up to four Large Snowflakes per day. As each melts, you should create another to keep the cycle going and continue receiving four a day.
If you're really impatient and want all those Frozen items crafted ASAP, then you could always use the ACNH "time travel" trick to skip ahead, day by day. But as always, be careful when you're altering the dates, as you might mess up some other aspect of your game, like rotting your turnips, or resetting your Nook Stop streak.
Additionally, even if you don't need them for crafting anymore, Large Snowflakes sell for 2,500 bells each. Not bad at all for a crafting item that doesn't take long to acquire. Well, unless you have to chase down a dung beetle for a snowball, that is.
