The popular free-to-play mobile game Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will be shutting down in late November 2024 after over seven years of service. The servers for Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp are scheduled to go offline on Thanksgiving Day, after which the game will be unplayable, although players may still be able to access their campsites in the future.
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp was released worldwide on November 21, 2017. Functioning similarly to other Animal Crossing games on Nintendo consoles, the game allows players to catch bugs and fish, gather fruit from trees, and perform helpful, neighborly acts for the various campers who come to stay at the campsite. Most importantly, players can collect a wide variety of items to decorate their campsites with, providing a cozy, customizable experience.
Why Animal Crossing Fans Shouldn't Miss Out on Pocket Camp
While waiting for the next mainilne series entry, fans of Nintendo's sim franchise should consider trying Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.
However, the developers have announced via the game's official website that the game will be shutting down, with all servers scheduled to go offline on November 28 at 10 a.m. EST and 7 a.m. PST. Players will be able to transfer their data, including their campsite setup, to an upcoming Animal Crossing mobile title that is planned to replace Pocket Camp, but they will need to make sure they have created a free Nintendo Online account and selected "Link Nintendo Account" in the game's settings menu before the app's shutdown date.
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Is Shutting Down In November
While Pocket Camp will be going offline, Nintendo states that its developers are working on a new version of the popular Animal Crossing mobile game, and players will be able to transfer their campsite data once that game is released. However, the replacement for Pocket Camp is said to be a "paid app without in-app purchases." Additionally, the new app will not require a continuous online connection, allowing players to experience Animal Crossing on their phones but without the ability to visit other players' campsites, give gifts, or access Market Boxes.
While Pocket Camp has always been free-to-play, it also includes some optional microtransactions for purchasing things like Leaf Tickets, the game's premium currency. While Leaf Tickets can also be earned through login rewards and other methods, the replacement app will no longer support them, so players should make sure to use them before Pocket Camp's servers shut down. Additionally, the Pocket Camp Club subscription service will cease ahead of the shutdown, on October 28. However, subscribers will receive a badge that allows them to continue to access premium content until the game's closing date.
