BioWare issued a response to a flood of criticism regarding Anthem's loot system following the stability and quality of life patch from March 9. In response to requests for BioWare to ramp up the quality of loot drops in Anthem, BioWare head of live services Chad Robertson responded on Twitter, acknowledging that BioWare, too, is "not yet fully happy" with Anthem's loot. But while he points out that BioWare has "significant changes" planned, they might not arrive for a few months.

The latest round of controversy over Anthem's loot systems began before Saturday's patch when Anthem's loot drops increased in a significant way. The Anthem community was vocally excited about the change, though it wasn't to last. Once the patch eventually went live, the increase in Masterwork and Legendary drops was removed.

Players responded with immediate frustration. Anthem's Reddit community was and is filled with requests for BioWare to revert the changes, frustrated rants, critical memes, and meta jokes. The discourse hasn't slowed since.

Robertson's response is, at the very least, recognition of Anthem players' frustrations. BioWare has been in constant communication with its community through every controversy since Anthem's launch and it deserves credit for such. Plus, for the most part, BioWare has continued to make improvements to loot. But this isn't the first loot change that has been received with disappointment, and it's not the first time BioWare has had to say it's listening and has changes planned.

All Anthem players can do is wait and wonder just what Chad Robertson is talking about when he says that "significant changes" are planned. He could be referring to specific changes to the loot system or to larger changes that ultimately require the loot to remain as it is for the time being. Either way, "incremental changes" in the short-term aren't likely to sate Anthem players anymore, and many players would likely disagree that Anthem is currently offering "the best possible player experience" after seeing what increased loot drop rates look like.

For now, however, it's the weekend and BioWare is unlikely to make any decisions until the work week. As demanding as Anthem is of attention, everyone at BioWare is hopefully still getting their weekends. As past events have shown, expect a more thorough response from BioWare in the week ahead.

Anthem is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
