Apex Legends has announced its latest Limited Time Mode (LTM) dubbed Hardcore Royale. With season 15 coming to a close in less than a month's time, Respawn seems to be prepping for the upcoming season as Apex Legends adds an intriguing new LTM.

Since its launch almost four years ago, Respawn has made some noticeable tweaks to Apex Legends. Recently, the developers shared a detailed overview of how its matchmaking works and that Apex Legends will finally be retiring its SBMM system for a new one. Incidentally, the update comes only a couple of days before the new LTM announcement, which could imply that Respawn may have some ambitious plans for the game in 2023.

According to Apex Legends, Hardcore Royale ships will be online on January 24 with some notable changes. For instance, players will be limited to white armor with no ability to upgrade by any means. The LTM also won't have any helmets, will feature a limited HUD, and the ring will start at maximum damage. Additionally, players won't be able to swap armors as these won't spawn in deathboxes as a typical match. The developers also mention that Hardcore Royale will only be available for accounts that are level 20 or above, similar to ranked play.

The new mode is part of the Celestial Sunrise Collection event which will feature 24 limited-time cosmetic items including legendary skins for Pathfinder, Octane, Caustic, and Ash. With a standard reward tracker that allows players to earn 1,600 points per day, gamers can automatically earn the “Jadeite Retribution” reactive peacekeeper skin if they earn all 24 items before the event ends. Further, the store will feature limited-time offers for the Lion’s Guard, Opalescent, and Galactic Guardian throughout the period.

Though Hardcore Royale isn't the only LTM fans can expect. Celestial Sunrise will come to an end on February 7 with another LTM called Date Night. The Duos mode will feature an exclusive healing mechanic where using a healing item will display an area around a player's legend. If the Duos partner is near this area, the second player will also receive the healing effect afterward. Date Night also includes a limited-time weapon, the Heart Stealer. This is a "romantic variant" of the Bocek bow where players will receive the same amount of healing as the damage dealt with the weapon.

Apex Legends has also indicated that fans can expect two more LTM events after Celestial Sunrise Collection. This means another LTM will likely follow the Data Night event. Apart from this unannounced event, fans already got a glimpse of what to expect from the game in season 16 following the recent massive Apex Legends leak, particularly with regard to the next character. It's still unclear how things will exactly pan out, but gamers may find it encouraging that Respawn seems to have a lot of content plans for the game.

Apex Legends is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch.
