Apex Legends is a free-to-play battle royale game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. It features squads of three players using predefined characters with unique abilities, known as Legends. Set in the Titanfall universe, the game combines elements of hero shooters and battle royale genres. Apex Legends emphasizes fast-paced combat, teamwork, and strategic use of abilities. Despite its popularity, many players are expressing their disagreements with upcoming changes made by EA.

Apex Legends Season 22 Battle Pass will require real-world money for purchase, as the cost has shifted from Apex Legends’ Apex Coins (earned in-game) to USD, with the Premium Pass now priced at $9.99 and Premium+ at $19.99. According to EA, this change aims to make the Premium+ Pass more affordable.

Additionally, Apex Legends’ Battle Pass will now be available per split, rather than per season. Players can earn the first Premium Battle Pass by logging in and completing challenges within the first two weeks of Season 22. The levels required to obtain key Apex Legends cosmetic items, like reactive skins, have been reduced from 110 to 60 per Battle Pass. Rewards from past Battle Passes that were seldom used have been removed, and the Free Track rewards have been refreshed, offering 200 Apex Coins, seven Apex Packs, one complete Epic set, and more per split. The Premium Track has also been revamped, providing 2400 Crafting Materials, 1300 Apex Coins, 10 Exotic Shards, various Apex Packs, a reactive weapon skin, a legendary weapon skin, and multiple legend and weapon skins per Battle Pass.

The decision to shift from Apex Coins to real-world currency has sparked backlash within the Apex Legends community. One player expressed concern that this move might harm the game's future, urging the developers to revert the changes. Another player voiced disappointment, arguing that this decision punishes loyal players and distracts from addressing the game's core issues. Some players have even threatened to quit the game, while others hoped the changes were merely a joke.

With the changes to the Battle Pass in Season 22, Respawn aims to enhance the game's value and accessibility. However, the shift to requiring real-world currency has left many players feeling frustrated and concerned about the future of what many consider one of the best free-to-play shooter games. Whether the developers will respond to community feedback remains to be seen.
