- Respawn Entertainment reverts controversial Battle Pass changes in Apex Legends after community backlash.

- Players express gratitude for Respawn listening to feedback and offering free Premium Battle Pass rewards.
Respawn Entertainment has made a statement promising to revert the controversial changes to the Battle Pass in Apex Legends that were announced at the start of this month. Going forward, Battle Passes in Apex Legends will remain purchasable for 950 Apex Coins like they always have been.
The change to the Battle Pass system was set to launch with Season 22 of Apex Legends, and made it so the Battle Pass could only be purchased with real money, as opposed to in-game currency. As well as this, there would be two Battle Passes per season, that were shorter but offered the same amount of rewards. This change was cited as being intended to make the Battle Pass more affordable for players, but by removing the option to spend Apex Coins, this change would have the opposite effect. The community was quick to point this out, as the inability to use Apex Coins punished long-time players of Apex Legends. Just over two weeks after the initial reveal, Respawn has come forward, acknowledging the feedback given and promising changes for the launch of Season 22.
Unlucky Apex Legends Player Has 'Debt' in the Game
While plenty of Apex Legends players take their time adjusting to the new season, one gamer discovers that they have an unsettled debt.
The official Apex Legends Twitter account posted a message earlier today as a response to the backlash the change has received. In the message, Respawn acknowledges the feedback and criticism that Apex Legends has been receiving over the past two weeks and reinforces its intention to improve and overhaul the value of the Battle Pass. With this in mind, the former change of requiring real money to purchase the Battle Passes in Season 22 has been rescinded, and players will be able to spend 950 Apex Coins. As additional compensation, Respawn is also offering players of Apex Legends the ability to unlock the Premium Battle Pass during the first split of Season 22 by completing a series of simple in-game challenges.
Respawn is Reverting Controversial Price Changes to Apex Legends' Battle Pass
This change has sat well with many players of Apex Legends, who are grateful to Respawn for listening to their fans and making adjustments accordingly. The rewards program from the first split of Season 22 has especially surprised fans, as it will allow many players the opportunity to obtain the Premium Battle Pass rewards for free, including earning the 1300 Apex Coins that would allow these players to keep purchasing the Premium Battle Pass in future so long as they complete the Battle Pass each split. The message closes out with a promise of bug fixes and improvements to game stability, with further details promised in the full Season 22 patch notes on August 5.
Apex Legends is currently undergoing a limited-time event in which players can unlock exclusive skins and battle in massive 12v12 arenas. The announcement of this event for Apex Legends was originally met with disdain from players, as it appeared the concerns regarding the Battle Pass were being ignored. With this most recent announcement, it seems this was not the case, and players of Apex Legends can take comfort in the knowledge that their pleas have been answered.
