As many fans of Respawn Entertainment are aware, Apex Legends is a battle royale title closely connected with the world of Titanfall and Titanfall 2. The two series are connected heavily through in-universe lore and Titanfall has influenced Apex Legends' gameplay heavily in a lot of ways, in terms of movement and overall gunplay and feel.

Though, there still has not been an abundance of direct crossover content regarding Titanfall and Apex Legends, with the addition of Titans being an oft rumored addition to the battle royale. Unfortunately for those hoping to see the giant mechs in Apex Legends, the game's game director Chad Grenier all but confirms there are no current plans to bring Titans into Apex.

The confirmation itself comes straight from Grenier's personal Twitter account in response to player feedback. The player in question expressed concern over the dynamic changes that introducing Titan gameplay to Apex Legends would bring. The feedback came as a result of a recent developer panel for Apex Legends confirming Titanfall content for Season 9, which Grenier was a part of. However, while Grenier said a "ton" of Titanfall content would be coming to Apex Legends in the future, Grenier's Twitter post clarifies that the Titans themselves are not currently part of that content.

Specifically, Grenier says, "We don't have any plans to put Titans in Apex, at least in our current roadmap." The statement seems very cut and dry, considering Grenier could have been much more coy about the upcoming content if Titans were actually in the cards for the next season of Apex Legends. Rumors surrounding Titans in Apex Legends have been circulating since the game's release in 2019, though Respawn has denied these rumors consistently since. Still, it doesn't seem like the idea of introducing them has ever fully died as Grenier makes a point to mention that Titans could still be added to Apex "someday in another mode."

While the addition of Titanfall content coming next season is a very interesting premise, it certainly highlights a clear split in Respawn's fanbase. There are the diehard battle royal fans who love what Respawn has done with Apex Legends, and there are those players who love the focused multiplayer experience that Titanfall and Titanfall 2 provided. Some Titanfall fans were fairly crestfallen with the announcement of Apex Legends, as many saw it as confirmation that fans would likely never see another Titanfall game from Respawn. Still, many Titanfall fans are vocal about wanting another entry even with Apex Legends going strong.

Though it's a shame that another entry in the Titanfall series looks doubtful, there is still a lot of DNA shared between Titanfall and Apex Legends. While yes, the two multiplayer titles are fundamentally different, they have a fair amount of similarities as well. In fact, Apex Legends originally included Titans and wall running very early in development. Hopefully, some of that Titanfall content coming in Season 9 appeases many of the Titanfall fans still playing Apex Legends.

Apex Legends  is out now for PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
