Apex Legends has received a new update that aims to improve the gameplay experience in Season 26 by nerfing the Peacekeeper and bringing back the Sentinel, among other changes. While not the biggest update, Respawn continues to work on tweaking the power levels of Legends and weapons in Apex Legends.

Apex Legends S26-1

Season 26 has already seen big changes to the meta. For example, Respawn released the mid-season update in September that nerfed characters like Ash and Caustic, while reworking the kits for Seer and Mad Maggie. Additionally, alterations to several weapons were rolled out, including the Wingman and RE-45 Burst. With Split 2 of the season underway, Respawn has released another update for the game.

According to the patch notes from October 7, the Peacekeeper has been nerfed to bring it more in line with other shotguns. Specifically, the fire rate was decreased, and the magazine size was reduced from six to five. The developer said the goal of these changes was to “maintain its raw power in terms of damage and instead disrupt how quickly it can put that damage out.” Besides the Peacekeeper, the latest update also saw the return of Apex Legends' Sentinel. Previously, the sniper had been removed from the game for an extended period due to a bug that prevented it from functioning properly.

Other balance changes in this latest October update include new nerfs for Alter. Notably, players can only have one Void Nexus on the map at a time. Furthermore, downed teammates can no longer use a Void Nexus to escape being finished by an opposing team. However, Respawn noted that teammates can still summon knocked allies through the portal. The recently reworked Seer also received changes to his abilities: players can no longer ADS hover while in Exhibit, and a “short full-body scan” was added to the Lasting Beats upgrade when an enemy exits his Ultimate.

Several other changes have been applied to improve the gameplay experience in Apex Legends. Respawn noted that servers should be more stable, with a decrease in slow motion. However, the developer said that work continues to be down in this area. Additionally, some bug fixes were made to the Trident, and Mad Maggie should now sprint at the correct speed with a shotgun.

Apex Legends Ranked Rewards

It will be interesting to see how these changes impact the battle royale for those playing in Season 26 of Apex Legends. Some players have felt that the Peacekeeper has become too strong since leaving the Care Package, so it is good to see the developer address player concerns. However, time will tell if it will have a significant impact on the weapon meta.
