Anyone who has played a good amount of ARC Raiders will know about the insane number of utility items and grenades that can be crafted or found during a raid, some of which are more useful than others. There are big flashy explosives like the Wolfpack and movement-related items like the zipline, which can lead to some creative shortcuts into or out of the action, but even the more niche tools can be just as useful in specific situations.

ARC Raiders Reminds Me What It Feels Like to Survive, Not Dominate

The initial goings in ARC Raiders are a stark reminder that playing it safe can be the clearest path to victory.

Players may find themselves with a stash full of random quick use items that they have collected over the course of several runs, yet they may be surprised to find out how effective some of them really are. Many of these underrated items can be found in abundance, bought for cheap, and crafted with little to no issues, providing just as much, if not more, power to the player's loadout, despite flying mostly under the radar.

Door Blocker

Buying You A Few Extra Seconds

ARC Raiders door blocker-1
  • Cost: 810
  • Recipe: 3x Metal Parts, 3x Rubber Parts (Utility Station 1)

Door Blockers are an item that many players overlook as an inventory filler that serves no other purpose besides being sold or scrapped. However, in practice, they can be an incredibly powerful tool when used in the correct circumstances, with the potential to turn the tide of an encounter in a matter of seconds. The blockade only takes a second to deploy, which means that players can easily run from a fight and block the path behind them without waiting around.

This item works best in high-loot areas where lots of PvP action takes place, as the ability to buy the team some precious time can be the difference between a successful shootout and a failed one. Without any breaching skills unlocked, it takes 10 seconds to fully remove a deployed Door Blocker, and even with a few points in the tree, it will still give players enough time to either pick up a teammate, heal, or make a quick escape.

Noisemaker

An Early Warning For What's To Come

ARC Raiders (2)-1
  • Cost: 1920
  • Recipe: 1x Speaker Component, 2x Plastic Parts (Inventory)

The Noisemakers are an interesting quick use item that feeds into an area control playstyle rather than an aggressive one. Players can set them up as audio traps that serve as alerts and deterrents for other Raiders. Many players overlook them due to a lack of immediate payoff, but they can be one of the strongest items in the game when used in the right circumstances.

For instance, when looting the Control Tower on Dam Battlegrounds, another team is almost guaranteed to be looking to cash in on the high loot. By setting up a series of Noisemakers throughout the corridors, players can get a better idea of where the incoming Raiders are. It's particularly useful against sneaking players. Information is one of the most valuable resources Topside, so having a mechanism to detect players early on can help players get a better position for the upcoming fight while also letting them know if the hungry looters have decided to leave or press on.

Light Impact Grenade

Some Much-Needed Extra Damage

ARC Raiders light grenade-1
  • Cost: 810
  • Recipe: 1x Plastic Parts, 3x Chemicals (Explosives Station 1/Workbench/Inventory)

There are a lot of offensive grenades that players can use against both Raiders and Arcs, with many favoring the explosive power of heavy-fuse grenades, showstoppers, or even drivers from fallen bots. At the lowest end of the spectrum lie the light impact grenades, which are not only incredibly cheap to craft and buy but are also surprisingly powerful, giving players a decent weapon to keep around and use when things get dicey.

Individual genades only deal 30 damage each, but players can hold up to five in a single, lightweight stack, giving them a decent AoE attack that can be devastating when used against groups or in closed-off areas. Also, light impact grenades can be thrown incredibly quickly and without much downtime, which means that players can toss a few from afar and then close the distance to quickly finish off any weakened enemies, making them a low-economy option for players who prefer a more aggressive PvP playstyle.

Barricade Kit

More Cover Is Never A Bad Thing

ARC Raiders barricade kit-1
  • Cost: 1920
  • Recipe: 1x Mechanical Components (Utility Station 1)

Barricade Kits are easily one of the most overlooked pieces of utility in ARC Raiders, yet there are so many situations where players can quite literally be saved from death thanks to this extra bit of cover. The kit itself can be placed pretty much anywhere in the world, so long as the surface is flat enough, and it can spring up a handy metal wall in a second, giving players time to catch their breath and heal up before jumping back into the action.

All Quests in ARC Raiders
All Quests in ARC Raiders (Mission List)

Players can take on quests from the Traders in ARC Raiders that will grant players various rewards, including blueprints, rare resources, and weapons.

Many players assume that the barrier will fall with a few well-placed bullets, but with 500 HP, it can withstand lots of punishment, even from a whole group of Raiders. What makes it even stronger is that players can pick it up and move it to a completely different location should they need to, allowing them to make use of the cover multiple times throughout a raid, regardless of whether they are running around outside or taking a fight in a tight corridor.

Smoke Grenade

Sneaking Away Unseen

ARC Raiders-1
  • Cost: 3000
  • Recipe: 7x Chemicals, 1x Canister (Utility Station/Workbench)

New players often look at the smoke grenades and write them off as a mediocre piece of equipment with fringe uses, but not a lot else. Yet when it comes to using them in action, it turns out that they are actually one of the best grenades in the game, and they can be used in virtually every single run. Their obvious use is for obscuring vision, but the specific uses go much further, allowing players to revive squad members safely, block entire sections from view, and, perhaps most importantly, extract safely and avoid any stray bullets from Raiders camping near the exit.

Smoke grenades can be costly to acquire in bulk, but players will find plenty during their adventures Topside. Once their power is seen firsthand, it is hard to enter a raid without at least a few smoke grenades on hand, as the ability to completely change the tide of a fight by removing lines of sight can be all it takes to lead players to the exit.
