ARC Raiders fans are calling for Embark Studios to change the low graphics setting on PC, blasting it as "unacceptable" due to the potential gameplay advantage it can give to players. While ARC Raiders has been generally well-received by players and critics, cementing itself as one of the best extraction shooters to date, fans believe this oversight could likely become a "dominant strategy" that will be unavoidable unless rectified.
As an extraction shooter, ARC Raiders revolves largely around looting and upgrading. And, just like other titles in the genre, such as Escape From Tarkov, things can become intense and fiercely competitive when players bump into each other, which is why fans are so up in arms about the recent low settings discovery. However, despite this being the studio's first extraction shooter, Embark is well aware of how important looting is to players. Fans even recently discovered a feature that returns players' loot if it is discovered that it was lost to a cheater, something the community praised Embark for.
ARC Raiders Players Should Always Put This Item in Their Safe Pocket
In a game all about risking the loss of loot upon death, ARC Raiders' Safe Pocket is a valuable asset that should be saved for this item.
Low Settings Seemingly Give ARC Raiders Players a Big Advantage
As ARC Raiders is less than one week old, it's no surprise that there have been some teething issues. In a new post on Reddit, one user is calling attention to the game's low graphics setting on PC, which appears to completely remove certain foliage and trees, thus making it much easier to see other players at a distance. The user calls this "unacceptable" and says player models should disappear too, which others seem to agree with. A fellow Reddit user says that Embark "needs to fix this," while another said it will become a "dominant strategy" as time goes on. Some even pointed out how fellow extraction games like Hunt: Showdown combat this by ensuring that low settings don't remove any vegetation.
At the time of writing this article, Embark Studios has yet to address players' concerns regarding ARC Raiders' graphics options, but the studio has already committed to plenty of post-launch support and content for its latest title. While Embark says it doesn't plan on releasing seasonal content updates like other live-service titles, it has already confirmed its plans for a new map in November, as well as new quests, gameplay items, a new Arc, and more. Further updates will also add even more content in December.
Assuming that Embark addresses players' concerns and takes on board feedback, especially in relation to the recent discovery regarding the game's low graphics setting, ARC Raiders could be another huge hit for the studio. The shooter has already shared a promising 2025 roadmap and revealed that the team wants to support the title for the next ten years, which is great news for fans.
