Best Way To Beat Shredders in ARC Raiders

There are many rumors going around about the best way to beat Shredders, and some of them include crazy tactics like circling around using melee or throwing a smoke grenade and hitting it with a shotgun at close range. But in truth, none of those strategies is enough to destroy a Shredder in ARC Raiders.

These ARC enemies have a single type of attack, but it hits for a lot of damage, and its range is an intermediate between the Hornet's Stun Blast and the Wasp's Bullet Spray. The Shredder attacks with shotgun bullets in a 360º rotating attack that destroys everything that is not behind cover.

Shredders are compact, agile, and heavily armored ARC enemies that have a single weakness: Their thrusters. Aiming and shooting down a thruster will destabilize the Shredder and send it crashing down the floor, but from there to destroying it completely, it's a different tale.

Shredders can still attack when downed, though their range becomes more limited and the angle of their attacks switches slightly. To completely destroy a Shredder, hit it when on the ground with a grenade or a Fireball Burner. Once it catches fire, its armor will be severely reduced, and landing a few hits will end its reign of terror.

Shredders tend to drop Shredder Gyro, and a lot of other Recyclable materials that can be sold for lots of money. However, the true reward is usually hidden in the POIs these ARC Enemies roam.

Now, the only way to one-shot a shredder is to land a hit with a Wolfpack Grenade. Every other type of grenade in the game will only damage it slightly or heavily, depending on the quality of the ordnance, and Raiders will still need to follow up with a shot or two.

Players need to carefully plan their strategy if they want to beat a Shredder. Following these steps when deploying in Stella Montis will greatly enhance the chances of survival:

  1. Never attack a Shredder in an Open Space
  2. Get behind cover and shoot its thrusters
  3. If it falls to the ground, don't approach, throw a grenade, or land more shots.
  4. Players can delete it using Wolfpack Grenades, but it will not be cost-effective.
  5. Heavy penetration weapons like the Anvil or Ferro seem to do the trick.
  6. Light and Medium Ammo weapons are ineffective: The Shredder has heavy armor.

Shredders make lots of noise when they go on attack mode, so there's a high chance of being attacked by enemy Raiders as a result of fighting them.

When that happens, throw a Lure Grenade in the direction of enemy players, and the Shredder will switch targets immediately. Or throw a smoke grenade to obscure the Shredder's sensors and slip away quietly. Be it as it may: Don't fight a Shredder when enemy players are around, it's asking for trouble.
