Embark Studios' massively popular extraction shooter, Arc Raiders, has seen a lot of success since its launch, but many players are expressing frustration over the price of cosmetics in the live-service game's store. Arc Raiders made its debut on October 30, 2025, and is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
As a live-service title, many players expected to see Arc Raiders include microtransactions in its business model. This isn't an uncommon practice, even for titles that aren't free-to-play. As of writing, Arc Raiders is priced at $40 for the standard edition and $60 for the deluxe edition. While the deluxe edition comes with several cosmetics, it also comes with 2,400 Raider Tokens, Arc Raiders' premium currency that players can use to acquire cosmetics from the in-game store. Unfortunately, it seems as if many players are finding that their Raider Tokens won't take them very far, as quite a few cosmetics come with a hefty price tag.
Arc Raiders Players Feel Cosmetics Are Overpriced
For the first time since launch, Arc Raiders has introduced a new store rotation filled with cosmetics for people to scoop up. Unfortunately, excitement seems to have turned into disappointment within the community as the prices of these new cosmetics were revealed. Some gamers, like PlatformThese4901, have especially taken issue with the new "Deep Sea Bird Set," which comes with a hat for Scrappy. Many fans have come to enjoy upgrading Scrappy in Arc Raiders, as the rooster collects basic resources for players. However, this bundle seems to have missed the mark, as it is priced at 900 Raider Tokens. It's worth noting that Scrappy is only seen in the game's menus.
In another post on Reddit, TheOnlyRealOne43 shared images of two premium cosmetics side by side, showing that they're almost identical to one another apart from their helmets. Other gamers commented that the cosmetics feel unacceptable, as they combine a high cost with re-used assets. Some were quick to point out that the cost feels especially outlandish since players need to buy Arc Raiders to play it in the first place, as it is not a free-to-play title.
Even though Arc Raiders' success seems to have brought even more people into the extraction shooter genre, it's possible that Embark Studios could lose the good will of its community by keeping cosmetic prices so high. Since the title is new, it's impossible to know how Embark Studios will respond.
While many gamers may not be happy with the price of cosmetics in the story, a lot of players seem to be enjoying their time with the new extraction shooter. Funny clips from Arc Raiders have swarmed social media, like one video that showed an extraction camper getting hit with karma immediately after downing another player. More and more players have been sharing their positive experiences with the title, with some even praising the community that has grown around the game. With so much content to enjoy and even more on the way, many fans are feeling optimistic about the future of Arc Raiders.
