LEGO just recently revealed the massive LEGO Batman Arkham Asylum set that will be rolling out in just over a month. What we didn't expect was how quickly the Arkham Asylum set's preorders would go live.
LEGO moved as fast as The Flash, as the brick maker's official site now has the LEGO Arkham Asylum set up exclusively for preorder. It's an incredible-looking set that's designed to be a large-scale project for more experienced builders. So there's a solid chance these preorders run out, and the set becomes backordered for those who miss out.

Where Can You Preorder the LEGO Arkham Asylum Set?
Sorry online retailers, this one is a LEGO Shop exclusive.
It doesn't happen very often, but occasionally LEGO deems a certain set significant enough to make it exclusive to the LEGO Shop. This package featuring one of Gotham's most infamous locations is apparently one of those special sets, as it's currently only available for preorder directly through the LEGO Shop.
The LEGO Arkham Asylum set can be preordered directly through LEGO now, with the building kit expected to begin shipping on September 9th. Because the set is over $35, those who purchase it will get free shipping included.
What Comes with the LEGO Batman Arkham Asylum Set?
Superheroes, Supervillains, and bricks galore.
At nearly 3,000 pieces, the LEGO DC Batman Arkham Asylum set is one of the largest Batman sets that LEGO has ever released. Once assembled, the three-level psychiatric hospital stands at an impressive 12.5 inches high, 10 inches wide, and 10.5 inches deep.
The set features removable portions that allow for kids (and adults) to interact with Gotham's iconic landmark. There are prison cells that can be opened and closed. And the set utilizes 65 different stickers that are scattered throughout the set, each depicting a small aspect of Batman franchise lore.
The LEGO Arkham Asylum set comes packaged as 24 separate sections. Making the entire set a wonderful 24 piece Advent Calendar as we approach the holidays.
One of the most impressive inclusions of the set is how many Batman minifigures it incorporates. There are 16 of them that come with the Arkham Asylum kit, both of the hero and villain variety:
- Batman
- Batwing
- Batwoman
- Robin
- Catwoman
- The Joker
- Harley Quinn
- Mr. Freeze
- The Riddler
- Poison Ivy
- Scarecrow
- Bane
- The Penguin
- Killer Croc
- Security Guard 1
- Security Guard 2
The Arkham Asylum set comes with transparent stands so that you can put your favorite heroes and villains on display diorama style. And there's also an inmate delivery van that you can play with to bring Batman's rouges to and from the facility.
What Does the LEGO Batman Arkham Asylum Set Cost?
At 2,953 pieces, you can probably assume that the LEGO Arkham Asylum set comes with a lofty price tag. You'd be right, as LEGO has it currently listed at $200. Though with the amount of details the kit features and the length of time it takes to build, LEGO enthusiasts would probably agree that the cost is about right for what's being delivered.
I would expect the Arkham Asylum set's preorders to run dry leading up to the building kit's September 9th release. So if you're interested, be sure to preorder your set now.
