Through the Chronicles series, Ubisoft introduced a fresh mechanic to the Assassin's Creed games, adapting the franchise's formula into a 2.5D side-scroller. The first title places players in the role of Shao Jun, the last Assassin of the Chinese Brotherhood, trained by none other than Ezio Auditore, as she fights to restore order in her homeland.

However, this entry deserves a follow-up thanks to a long span between its final mission and its epilogue, which takes place roughly 25 years later. If Ubisoft ever returns to this spinoff, there is substantial room to be covered with Shao Jun and the story around rebuilding the brotherhood in China.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey took players to Ancient Greece, covering events around the Peloponnesian War. With Kassandra or Alexios as protagonists, the game featured an expansive open world and a plot that blended history with myth. Kassandra, in particular, became one of the most beloved figures in the series thanks to her personality and presence.

A sequel to Odyssey could focus on Kassandra’s eternal years, showing her interactions with historical moments after the original title. The era of Alexander the Great’s campaigns, or possibly a shift to later periods such as Ancient Rome or the Renaissance, would serve as ideal backdrops to go deeper into her path and reveal the effects of her longevity on the franchise’s lore.

A sequel could explore the Frye siblings' activities after the game’s events, such as their roles in other parts of the British Empire. For instance, delving into the Brotherhood’s expansion in India or introducing their descendants during the early 20th century could provide fresh perspectives while continuing the legacy of these compelling characters.

Assassin’s Creed Rogue stands out by flipping the usual series approach, letting participants control Shay Cormac, a committed Templar and former assassin. This singular angle deepens the conflict between Assassins and Templars, with a storyline filled with drama and twists, ensuring a unique spot in the franchise.

As one of the Assassin's Creed games that need sequels, Rogue could further expand Shay’s journey, exploring his rivalry with characters like Connor Kenway and Arno Dorian, who coexist during his timeline. A sequel could dive deeper into the historical period, presenting epic conflicts and interactions between various iconic figures from the series, adding even more complexity to its narrative.

The third release had the tough task of creating a setting and main character to surpass Ezio Auditore and Italy. Despite being enjoyable, comparisons between the two games never ceased. As a result, Assassin’s Creed 3 deserves a sequel, diving deeper into Connor Kenway’s untapped potential.

On top of the fact that for a good portion of the game, players also take control of Haytham Kenway - Connor’s father - there is still plenty to look into for the main figure of Assassin’s Creed 3. The plot ends while he is around 27 years old, so with the longevity shown by some assassins, there is considerable opportunity to focus on Connor at his peak.

Placed during the French Revolution, Assassin’s Creed Unity introduced Arno Dorian, a character with strong promise to develop beyond the fifth main installment. He coped with the loss of his father and his partner, which alone provides many threads to continue in another chapter.

However, after the period depicted in Unity, another major event took place: Napoleon Bonaparte’s rise, fueled by his numerous campaigns. Napoleon already plays a part in the game, so shedding more light on his history, as well as Arno’s, would be a great opportunity.

Seen by many as one of the finest entries in the series, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag send players into the Golden Age of Piracy. Edward Kenway is often praised for how he evolves over the plot, fitting perfectly with the themes and locations of the release, earning him a memorable place in the saga.

Yet a sequel for Black Flag faces narrative hurdles, since Edward passed on soon after the game’s conclusion. This would require a story adjustment or the introduction of a different main figure. Even so, the pirate period offers a wide field for additional stories involving Edward’s legacy and an expansion of the overall series.

Assassin’s Creed Origins marked a pivotal shift in the series by adopting RPG elements, centering on the creation of the Assassin Brotherhood - initially called the Hidden Ones - and its initial clash with the Templars. The narrative introduces Bayek and Aya, significant characters whose teamwork formed a core foundation of the saga and showed strong narrative potential.

A sequel could explore the Brotherhood’s expansion to areas like Rome, with an emphasis on historical events and avoiding myth-based elements. This angle would bring focus to the tension between Assassins and Templars, giving a gripping storyline that would broaden the series’ lore and bring more depth to these essential characters.
