9 Tallest Assassin's Creed Protagonists, Ranked
The history of Assassin's Creed games features multiple tall protagonists, such as Altaïr from the original game and Connor Kenway from AC 3.
In the early days of the franchise, gameplay was pretty linear and only allowed players to explore certain areas of a determined location. However, as time has passed, newer titles in the Assassin’s Creed series contain various main and side quests that will keep players entertained for hours. Here are some of the best Assassin’s Creed games with the most side quests.
7 Assassin's Creed 3
The American Revolutionary War Is Very Interesting
Assassin's Creed III
- Released
- October 30, 2012
- ESRB
- M for Mature: Blood, Intense Violence, Sexual Themes, Strong Language
- Genre(s)
- Action, Open-World
- New game mechanics
- Connor isn't the most interesting character, but he's not boring either
Assassin’s Creed 3 is a big subject of debate among players, as some say that it’s a really great title, whereas others don’t find it as amusing as other installments in the franchise. In any case, it’s setting in the American Revolutionary War and the new mechanics implemented for Connor are very interesting.
Compared to the animation and graphics of the first game and the Ezio Trilogy, Assassin’s Creed 3 is a huge improvement. It does not have as many side quests as other titles on the list, but there’s still plenty to keep players entertained for a few hours. All in all, while it’s not the best Assassin’s Creed game ever released, this game still holds up very well.
6 Assassin's Creed Unity
Turmoil In The Midst Of The French Revolution
Assassin's Creed Unity
- Released
- November 11, 2014
- ESRB
- M for Mature: Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Sexual Themes, Strong Language, Use of Alcohol
- Genre(s)
- Action, Open-World
- Detailed depiction of 18th-century France
- Numerous side quests to do
Assassin’s Creed Unity follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, Assassin's Creed 3, as it’s also set in a revolutionary war, but this time in France in the late 18th century. The graphics, game mechanics and gameplay overall are also improved upon compared to previous titles, and it could be argued that it features one of the most realistic depictions of France in that period.
8 Classic Era Assassin's Creed Games That Have Aged The Best, Ranked
The classic era of Assassin's Creed is full of wonderful nostalgia. Here are the entries from that time that still hold up well.
Although this title was not yet an RPG, which is the direction that the franchise would take later down the road, it still offers many side and main missions for players to take advantage of and delve deeper into Arno’s story. This, along with the compelling narrative that is presented to players, makes Assassin’s Creed Unity a solid entry on this list. The game also offers various attires, including some neat-looking starting Assassin Robes.
5 Assassin's Creed Syndicate
An Awkward Midpoint Between The RPG Games And The Classic Titles
Assassin's Creed Syndicate
- Released
- October 23, 2015
- Set in the British Industrial Revolution
- Jacob and Evie Frye have depth, but not as much as other protagonists in the series
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is, arguably, one of the least popular titles in the series, as many players argued that it was not as entertaining as previous installments, even though it was set in the midst of the British Industrial Revolution.
The reason behind this is confusing, as the characters are not dull or hard to relate to, and the story isn’t terrible either. There are also tons of different main side quests that players can experience, but perhaps its lack of popularity stems from the fact that it was the awkward midpoint between the original franchise’s format and the new RPG elements that were implemented in Origins. If players are looking for a medieval game inspired by the Assassin’s Creed series, they should look elsewhere given the period this title is set in.
4 Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag
Amazing Ports And Beach Settings
Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag
- Released
- October 29, 2013
- ESRB
- M For Mature 17+ Due To Blood, Sexual Themes, Strong Language, Use of Alcohol, Violence
- Genre(s)
- Action-Adventure, Open-World
- Edward Kenway is an amazing pirate
- Revamped combat mechanics
There are many things that are interesting about Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag. Not only is Edward Kenway a very interesting leading man in this installment, but the addition of sea shanties, and the pirate life overall make this title really shine.
On top of this, the settings of this particular title are very appealing to the eye as they are full of vegetation and ports, which fans of pirate movies and history will likely appreciate. The combat mechanics are also great and have been considerably improved upon compared to previous games in the franchise’s history. While it’s not one of the Assassin’s Creed games with the biggest maps, the one available is still great fun to explore.
3 Assassin's Creed Origins
The Franchise's First Leap Into The RPG Genre
Assassin's Creed Origins
- Released
- October 27, 2017
- ESRB
- M for Mature: Blood and Gore, Drug Reference, Intense Violence, Nudity, Sexual Content, Strong Language, Use of Alcohol
- Genre(s)
- Action RPG, Open-World
- Interesting setting
- The franchise goes back thousands of years for this title
Assassin’s Creed Origins is a difficult title to talk about, as it’s widely controversial among players given that it was the first game in the series that implemented RPG elements. Some were really happy about this transition, whereas others really resented the fact that the franchise’s original format was no longer there-at least not in the same way.
The setting of this game is fascinating and goes back a lot further than any other title in the series had before. Given that it’s an RPG, Assassin’s Creed Origins goes a lot further in terms of the main and side quests it has to offer players, with tons of NPCs ready to be addressed for an adventure. Assassin’s Creed Origins has great music, but probably not the best in the series, as that award goes to Assassin’s Creed 2.
2 Assassin's Creed Valhalla
The Viking Era And Its Folklore Are Compelling
Assassin's Creed Valhalla
- Released
- November 10, 2020
- Players can fight enemies from Norse mythology
- Eivor can be either male or female
Given how vast the Assassin's Creed franchise is, it was only a matter of time before a title was set in the Viking era. Following Eivor, who can either be male or female, players will have the chance to explore the Scandinavian fjords and land while enjoying a fictional depiction of what the culture of this famous group of warriors and pillagers was.
Assassin's Creed Shadows: Best Allies To Upgrade For Naoe
If you're trying to figure out which Allies to upgrade in the Dojo, these are great choices for Naoe.
The mechanics present in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla are very different to other titles in the series, and players will get to take on many characters from Viking mythology. Thanks to modern development engines and gaming consoles, it was possible for Ubisoft to pack several main quests into this title to keep players busy for a long time.
1 Assassin's Creed Odyssey
Playing As Kassandra Or Alexios Is Very Rewarding
Assassin's Creed Odyssey
- Released
- October 15, 2018
- ESRB
- M for Mature: Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Sexual Themes, Strong Language
- Genre(s)
- Action RPG, Open-World
- Ancient Greece makes for an interesting setting
- Kassandra and Alexios have their own complexities
Following the series' more recent, yet already known format of allowing players to pick between a male and a female character, Assassin‘s Creed Odyssey focuses on the story of either Alexios or Kassandra.
This title is widely acclaimed for its variety of missions and possibilities set in Ancient Greece, giving players more breathing room regarding how they can play the game and the things they can do. All in all, while it might never get to live up to what Assassin’s Creed 2 was, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is still worth playing and any fan of the franchise should try it—especially due to its various endings.
