AC Shadows: Complete Kii Assassin Outpost Without Fighting…

While following the Assassin questline, players must complete the Path of Chosen, which will lead to an assassin outpost they'll need to discover in Assassin's Creed Shadows. Although all assassin outposts are easy to complete, the one located in the Kii region can be really tough as it's guarded by an extremely strong enemy called Clifftop Yamabushi.

Even though it feels like defeating this enemy is mandatory to complete the mission, there's a way to bypass this fight and complete the Kii Assassin Outpost with ease. However, if you're over level 36, it's recommended that you fight and defeat him for the legendary gear he drops.

Path of Chosen Location in Kii Assassin Outpost Quest in Assassin's Creed Shadows

To reach the Assassin Outpost in the Kii region of AC Shadows, players must complete the Path of Chosen activity located in the western part of Iseji Trails. After traveling to the location, players will see a group of children sitting near the shore, talking about a crazed Yamabushi climbing to the top of the mountain.

So, start the Path of Chosen by swinging across the tree branches using a grappling hook and heading inside the cavern to reach the top of the mountain as Naoe. After reaching the end of the path, players will spot a high-level enemy named "Clifftop Yamabushi" sitting near a camp. If Naoe gets too close, the enemy will engage her and start attacking.

Here, players can either battle the Clifftop Yamabushi in Assassin's Creed Shadows, or they can safely complete the mission without engaging him. Let's explore both possibilities.

Completing Kii Assassin Outpost Quest Without Fighting Clifftop Yamabushi

There's a method that players can use to bypass the Clifftop Yamabushi fight if they're underleveled and just want to complete the Kii Assassin Outpost quest in AC Shadows. Here's how to do that.

Switch to Yasuke before engaging the Clifftop Yamabushi.
Once Yasuke gets close to him, he'll acknowledge his status as a samurai and will ask him to leave. Slowly move around the Clifftop Yamabushi and open the chest behind him.
Opening the chest will complete the Path of Chosen activity. Upon completing this, the Yamabushi will return to a dormant state and sit down somewhere.
When Yamabushi has calmed down, go to a safe distance and switch to Naoe.
Now, crouch down and safely approach the assassin sigil next to the camp to complete the Kii Assassin Outpost quest in Assassin's Creed Shadows.

Defeating Clifftop Yamabushi & Rewards

If players are up to the challenge, they can engage the Clifftop Yamabushi in a fight. It's recommended to switch to Yasuke if you decide to fight a high-level enemy. However, using the best build for Naoe in AC Shadows can also enable her to take down this foe.

Once the Clifftop Yamabushi is defeated, players will get the Lustrous Peal, a legendary Naginata weapon for Yasuke, alongside its unique perk that allows postured combo enters to knock enemies down.
