In Assassin's Creed Shadows, there are two types of skill points that you'll need to acquire to level up: Knowledge Points and Mastery Points. While Mastery Points are the typical reward for gaining a specific amount of experience, Knowledge Points are a new addition to the franchise, and work quite differently. The skill trees for both Naoe and Yasuke feature multiple tiers, each of which requires you to acquire a specific amount of Knowledge Points to unlock. In this guide, we'll show you the best way to quickly get Knowledge Points in Assassin's Creed Shadows.
9 Best Changes To The Assassin's Creed Formula
The Assassin's Creed franchise gameplay mechanics has evolved over time, and these are some of the best changes.
How to Get Knowledge Points in Assassin's Creed Shadows
Very early in your Assassin's Creed Shadows playthrough, you will realize that large portions of the skill trees are locked behind a large amount of Knowledge Point requirements. And while the first tier is accessible at the start of the game, you will very quickly find yourself in desperate need of a quick source of Knowledge Points.
Luckily, there is a vast supply to be found throughout the map, but you have to know where to look. Knowledge Points, and the locations in which they can be found, are distinguished by an orange symbol. There are several points of interest that feature these orange symbols, and all of them will reward you with a single Knowledge Point upon completing their specific challenge.
In fact, one of the more common sources of Knowledge Points, Lost Pages, is introduced very early in the game. However, it is easy to miss just how vital this resource is, especially later in the game. So, with this in mind, we will show you how to go about finding the best locations to farm Knowledge Points in AC Shadows.
Where to Farm Knowledge Points in Assassin's Creed Shadows
Follow the Orange Icons:
In Assassin's Creed Shadows, every orange icon you see on the map will reward you with a Knowledge Point. There are a huge amount of these POIs to be found, and there are several ways to locate them.
First, you will likely uncover several simply by traveling around the world. Open your map and press down on your D-Pad to bring up the legend. Scroll down the list of POIs until you start to see the orange hexagons. Hover over any you can see, then press left or right on the D-Pad to scroll through every location of that type you've discovered.
The following POIs provide Knowledge Points:
- Temples – Locate Lost Pages (Naoe)
- Shrines – Locate Alters (Both)
- Kuji-kiri – Perform Hand Movements (Naoe)
- Kata – Perform Weapon Movements (Yasuke)
- Horse Archery – Destroy All Targets (Yasuke)
- Kofun – Find Chest at end of Puzzle (Both)
- Hidden Trails – Locate chest at end of environment/platform challenge (Naoe)
Almost every city and town in AC Shadows features a Temple or Shrine. One of the best ways to locate them is by visiting the local Kakurega, and checking the Opportunities section at the Contracts station. As an example, Kyoto, the main city in Yamashiro, has three temples in the city, and several more just outside. If you check all the question marks in and around the major cities, you will always come away with a huge amount of Knowledge Points.
Choose World Intel:
Another extremely helpful method of locating the orange icon POIs is found when interacting with the various NPCs you encounter while traveling. Always be on the lookout for NPCs in need of help. After completing the random encounter, you'll be asked if you would like them to act as a scout, or provide Word Intel. While this will not always be the case, Word Intel will often highlight nearby Knowledge Point opportunities on the map. They will be marked the same as if you picked them in the Browse Contracts menu.
