Summary

  • Assassin's Creed Shadows has been rated for the Nintendo Switch 2.
  • Ubisoft was previously rumored to be planning extensive Switch 2 support.
  • The only Ubisoft title that has so far been confirmed for the Switch 2 is Star Wars Outlaws, which is coming to the eShop on September 4.

Assassin's Creed Shadows may be headed to the Switch 2, according to some newly surfaced evidence. The latest entry in Ubisoft's long-running franchise could hence become the first Assassin's Creed game to launch on Nintendo's upcoming console.

Following several delays, Assassin's Creed Shadows was released for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on March 20. While Ubisoft has yet to share any official sales figures, the developer-publisher said that its latest AAA title surpassed 3 million players in its first week. Meanwhile, some industry watchers have already labeled Assassin's Creed Shadows as one of the best-selling games of 2025 so far.

'Nintendo Has Been a Great Partner' Xbox Reconfirms Switch 2 Support

A senior Microsoft official reaffirms the company's commitment to supporting the Nintendo Switch 2 with first-party Xbox games.

The open-world ARPG may now be on its way to the Switch 2, having just been rated for Nintendo's upcoming console by PEGI, VGC reports. While the Assassin's Creed Shadows entry in the PEGI database makes no mention of Nintendo's upcoming console, the "Most Searched Games" section of the PEGI homepage currently highlights the game and lists the Switch 2 as one of its platforms. Rumors of an Assassin's Creed Shadows Switch 2 version have already been circulating online for a while now, but this rating marks the first concrete piece of evidence suggesting the port may actually be happening.

The possibility of an unannounced Ubisoft game (port) leaking via an age rating is far from unprecedented. PEGI, in particular, has been the source of several recent Ubisoft leaks. E.g., The Best War Games exclusively reported on the existence of a Captain Laserhawk multiplayer shooter back in January 2024, thanks to a PEGI rating that emerged online nearly a year before the game itself was released.

Many Ubisoft Games Are Reportedly Coming to the Nintendo Switch 2

Regardless of whether Assassin's Creed Shadows is on its way to Nintendo's next-gen console, Ubisoft is believed to be planning extensive Switch 2 support. Recent rumors have pointed to Assassin's Creed Mirage being on its way to the Switch 2, together with Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege and The Division series. Ubisoft itself has so far announced just one Switch 2 title, Star Wars Outlaws, which is scheduled to hit the eShop on September 4.

Since the Switch 2 will be backward-compatible, it will be able to play a variety of Assassin's Creed titles on day one. These include AC: The Ezio Collection and AC3: Remastered, as well as AC Rogue and AC4: Black Flag. A potential Switch 2 port of Assassin's Creed Shadows wouldn't be the first opportunity for fans to experience the 2025 title on the go, as the game is already playable on modern portable PCs, including the Steam Deck.
