Assassin's Creed Shadows may arrive on the Switch 2 on December 5, 2025, according to a new leak. While the new version has yet to receive an official announcement, several leaks and signs have pointed toward the game coming to Nintendo's latest console. Now, Assassin's Creed Shadows fans may have a better picture of when exactly that will happen.
Despite delays and some controversy leading up to release, the most recent entry in the Assassin's Creed series has performed fairly well. Just four months after its debut, Assassin's Creed Shadows passed five million players, and the game hit the one million mark on its first day. That's enough to make it the franchise's second-biggest launch to date, and Ubisoft isn't done with the title quite yet.

New Leak Claims Assassin's Creed Shadows Will Come to Switch 2 on December 5
According to a report from Dealabs, Assassin's Creed Shadows' Switch 2 version will come out on December 5. The news comes not long after a French retailer listing revealed the Assassin's Creed Shadows physical Switch 2 edition, and now Dealabs claims it has investigated the leaks and was able to confirm both the version itself and its release date. The report also says Ubisoft will list the Switch 2 version of the game for pre-orders, but it's currently unclear when those orders will go live. However, an announcement will reportedly come sometime between now and November 7.
The leak also confirms that, as the earlier leaked listing revealed, the physical version of Shadows on Switch 2 will be a Game-Key Card. While Nintendo has defended the Switch 2's use of Game-Key Cards, saying it makes things easier for more third-party publishers to make games for the console, many fans aren't thrilled about the trend. Some cite concerns over ownership, which is often a driving reason gamers buy a physical version in the first place, but some industry insiders say the technology helps reduce costs, ease storage complications, and may even preserve games longer than a fully physical version might.
Game-Key Card controversy aside, it's a big moment for Ubisoft and its stealth RPG series. Bringing Shadows to a new console could open the game to even more players. There could be more news for the franchise on the horizon, too, as many rumors point toward an Assassin's Creed Black Flag remake arriving sometime in 2026. Both the remake and the Switch 2 release of Shadows are as of yet unofficial, so fans should keep their eyes peeled for updates from Ubisoft.
