Ubisoft has shared the Year 1 content roadmap for Assassin's Creed Shadows. The newly revealed schedule promises a plethora of free content, new gameplay features, and quality-of-life improvements, in addition to sharing more details about the first Assassin's Creed Shadows story expansion.
April 20 marked the one-month anniversary of Assassin's Creed Shadows hitting digital and physical store shelves. Although Ubisoft still isn't sharing official sales data, the company previously said that Assassin's Creed Shadows surpassed 3 million players within a week of release, in addition to characterizing it as the second-biggest launch in the history of the franchise—behind AC Valhalla.
Rumor: Assassin's Creed Shadows Could Be Getting Multiplayer
As Ubisoft teases upcoming content, new data suggests that Assassin's Creed Shadows could bring back multiplayer to the franchise.
As previously promised, Ubisoft shared the Assassin's Creed Shadows post-launch roadmap earlier today, April 30. The content agenda starts with an early May update that will introduce a new story quest called The Works of Luis Frois. If that name sounds familiar, it's because it belongs to a Portuguese Jesuit priest and missionary whose in-game counterpart was already introduced at the very beginning of Assassin's Creed Shadows, during Yasuke's opening sequence. Ubisoft says the upcoming quest will provide players with a deeper understanding of Luis Frois and his activities in Japan. A Codex update and some quality-of-life improvements will be arriving alongside this quest.
A few weeks later, the game is slated to receive its very first "special collaboration." The contents of this collaboration and the identity of the forthcoming collaborator are currently unclear. Ubisoft only said that the content drop will arrive in late May 2025, debuting alongside Assassin's Creed Shadows Photo Mode improvements and a parkour update. The latter will reintroduce height-gaining back and side ejects, in addition to debuting a brand-new move called the vertical ledge jump, which can be used for grabbing onto lower overhands like awnings from the ground. Both Yasuke and Naoe will be able to use the vertical ledge jump. More parkour animations and improvements are promised to arrive at a later date.
Assassin's Creed Shadows Year 1 Content Roadmap
June 2025 will then see Ubisoft introduce a new Assassin's Creed Shadows ally, as well as another story quest. Even tougher difficulty settings for combat and stealth alike will also be part of the June update, together with additional gameplay immersion options, as well as a toggle allowing players to display headgear during cutscenes.
For the second half of 2025, Ubisoft promised even more free content, a New Game Plus mode, and additional "special collaborations," together with Codex updates, more Animus content, store drops, and new rewards, among other novelties. The game's first paid expansion, Claws of Awaji, is also part of the year-one roadmap, though it's currently lacking a firm release window. The DLC itself will feature Naoe and Yasuke exploring a new region in search of treasure as part of a quest taking place immediately after the Assassin's Creed Shadows epilogue. Claws of Awaji will be free for anyone who pre-ordered the game.
