After meeting Gennojo, a thief with the constant urge to flirt with Naoe in The Fool story, his own questline opens up that players can complete in Assassin's Creed Shadows. The questline has some missions that slowly unravel Gennojo's tragic past and his quest for revenge, but the final mission, Godless Harvest, is the most crucial one. Towards the end of the quest, Naoe will need to make a decision that will decide Gennojo's fate and whether he'll become an ally to the league.

Finding the Rice in the Godless Harvest Quest in Assassin's Creed Shadows

After helping him out in other quests, Godless Harvest is the last side quest in Gennojo's questline in Assassin's Creed Shadows. The quest eventually takes Naoe to the castle in Kyoto where Gennojo was working when his parents got killed.

The first objective is to infiltrate the Nijo Palace and find the rice, stashed somewhere inside. The gate to the palace is right behind Gennojo, so simply go across the bridge and enter the compound. This is a hostile zone and players will spot several enemies patrolling the area. It's best to head inside quietly.

Once inside, head to the northern part of the Nijo Palace and use Naoe's Eagle Vision ability to spot the blue dot, indicating the location of rice sacks. After interacting with the rice, Gennojo will join Naoe, but it'll quickly lead to an encounter with a boss fight with Tatsugoro.

After Tatsugoro is defeated, a furious Gennojo, who's on a path to avenge his starving people and murdered family, will have a handful of explosives, ready to blow up the shed. Here, players will get a choice to either soothe Gennojo's anger, stop him forcefully, or simply, do nothing in AC Shadows.

Stop or Soothe Gennojo

If players choose the "Step Gennojo" option, Naoe will sneak up behind him and knock him out before he can activate the fuse. It's a rather aggressive approach, but is best for players who don't want Naoe going down a romantic path with Gennojo.

On the other hand, choosing to "Soothe Gennojo" will lead to a more passive approach as Naoe calmly talks down Gennojo. She'll relate to Gennojo's feelings, and he'll eventually listen to Naoe and won't use the explosives.

Both of the outcomes will lead to the same conclusion as Gennojo will be recruited into the league in Assassin's Creed Shadows.

Do Nothing

If players choose the "Do nothing" option, Naoe won't make any advances to stop Gennojo's actions, and he'll eventually walk into the shed, blowing it up...and himself. This outcome will lead to Gennojo dying and players will miss out on a potential ally in the league.
