Being a robust ARPG, Assassin's Creed: Valhalla features a wide variety of items that players can use at their disposal. Many areas of the game can also be considerably challenging. To combat this, there are several armor sets in the game that players can wear to properly match their playstyle. Some of these armor sets are incredibly powerful — especially when utilizing the extra perks from wearing a whole set — and will help Eivor make alliances and defeat enemies with style and valor.

Updated June 25, 2024 by Stephen LaGioia: Since its debut in 2020, Assassin's Creed Valhalla's lush worlds have been expanded thanks to updates and DLC by Ubisoft, culminating with the epic Dawn of Ragnarok. Valhalla and Dawn of Ragnarok, coupled with Assassin's Creed Mirage, look to keep fans satiated while waiting for the upcoming Japan-based epic, Shadows.

Thankfully, Ragnarok is almost as fun and massive in scope to work as a stand alone game. It brings epic new settings, and a number of awesome armor sets in particular. Thus, it seemed like a good idea to further flesh out and refine this list, while giving the nod to some more great armor from the expansive DLC.

23 Raven Clan Armor Set

The Raven Clan Armor Set is Eivor's default armor. Despite this, this armor set is more than capable of decently protecting Eivor throughout the game, if the player chooses.

This armor set increases the player's armor stat when their health is low, making it a great armor set for beginners.

It also gives an additional increase in Critical Chance. Aside from this, the armor offers no additional buff. While players can complete the game from start to finish just with this armor, it is recommended to explore other options.

• Increase Armor the lower the player's Health is (two pieces)
• Additional increase to Critical Chance (all five pieces)

22 Huntsman Armor Set

Hence its name, the Huntsman Armor set is perfect for bow wielders and ranged attackers. While this type of gameplay is fun and offers extra challenges, it will ultimately hinder the player from experiencing the game's ultimate potential.

Thus, this Wolf-aligned armor set should only ever be used in the early stages of the game or during particular missions.

The armor set provides players an increase in ranged damage when hitting enemies from 20m away. It also gives an additional increase in speed.

• Increase Range Damage when hitting enemies further than 20m away (two pieces)

21 Fallen Heroes Armor Set

Wolf Alignment

Eivor is sure not to fall too frequently in battle with this Wolf-aligned set. Obtainable by completing the Tombs of the Fallen, this set will grant players a well-rounded slew of buffs when the pieces are worn together. Even wearing two of the pieces will grant double-digit stat boosts for armor, melee damage, and range damage.

Yet, wearing all five will yield an explosive pulse following a short delay after being struck. While it's laced with a ten-second cooldown, it's highly effective, as it deals a wave of damage. This knocks down all enemies in its vicinity.

20 Druidic Armor Set

This thematic, intimidating armor set from Wrath of the Druids stands as one of the add-on's allures. The Raven-aligned gear rewards successful hits on the same enemy with health restoration, while boosting melee damage and poison build-up resistance.

This gives it a diverse slew of buffs that accommodate various fighting styles and complements its spooky imagery. Though it very much favors more aggressive players, allowing Eivor to outlast foes they overpower. These armor pieces are rewarded for completing the four Tombs of the Fallen hidden dungeons throughout England.

• +3.5% Health Restoration after three hits on the same enemy (two pieces)

• +20 Poison build-up resistance (all five pieces)

19 Fire Giant Armor Set

The epic, quasi-stand-alone DLC, Dawn of Ragnarok has a lot of appealing content to entice returning players while drawing in newbies. Among these draws is the potent, red-hot Fire Giant set, which can be obtained by looting various chests scattered about Svartalfheim.

This flashy Bear-aligned armor accommodates those who like to play with fire and melt opponents, as it increases melee damage when Eivor's weapon is on fire. It further turns a heated battle in favor of Eivor, granting tons of melee resistance when all pieces are equipped. As one might expect, fighting with a complete set can cause even larger foes to wear down rather quickly.

• +25 Melee Damage (when weapon is on fire) (two pieces)
• +25 Melee Resistance (all five pieces)

18 Dwarven Blacksmith Armor Set

This shiny, stout armor from the separate DLC Dawn of Ragnarok can be gathered by way of various Wealth Chests scattered through Svartalfheim; specifically in the Svaladal and Vangrinn regions. Being designed for higher-powered Vikings, this armor is naturally higher in stats and potency than many.

Beyond just looking sleek, and being thematically fitting for Eivor, this Bear-aligned armor set allows players to overwhelm the usually clunkier foes with sheer speed. Having all five pieces equipped will yield an ample increase in speed. This is complemented by boosted defense (for ten seconds) when stunning an enemy — which is likely to happen when striking fast and frequently.

• Increase Armor by 30 when stunning an enemy (two pieces)
• Additional 20 increase to Speed (all five pieces)

17 Odin The All-Father Armor Set

This divine Raven-aligned armor set can be rewarded upon fighting with Valkyrie Kara and besting her in the arena within the Dawn of Ragnarok DLC, in Kara's Domain. Specifically, players will have to spend 1,200 Tokens of Kara on each piece of armor, which is rewarded by fighting in the arena.

Getting the entire set will be hard fought, but it's quite worth the battle — especially for those who like their combat from afar. Even having two pieces yields nice rewards, granting a 50% chance to increase the ever-useful Adrenaline gain upon landing a headshot or striking a weak point. This can build up to three times. This is nicely intertwined with the full-set bonus, which brings a major bump to headshot damage.

• 50% chance to increase Adrenaline gain on Headshot or weak point hit (1-3x Adrenaline gain rate) (two pieces)
• 25 increase to Headshot damage (all five pieces)

16 Berserker Armor Set

The Berserker Armor set is quite the beast, and is visually awesome to boot. Eivor gets to wear a bear's head as a helmet, because why not? The only downside to this armor set is its accessibility. Players can get this as a free pack alongside the Gold or Ultimate edition of the game, or buy it in the Ubisoft store (1,500 Helix Credits). It also randomly appears in Reda's shop, but that is difficult to keep track of.

The armor offers a speed increase buff once the player's health goes low. It also offers an increase in attack and armor.

• Increases Speed when taking damage until players Heal themselves (stacks up to five times) (two pieces)
• Additional increase to Attack and Armor (all five pieces)

15 Magister's Armor Set

The Magister's Armor set has a very sleek-looking design. It also has quite a few useful buffs, but the only drawback is they only get triggered at night.

While wearing this armor, Eivor gains a 15-point increase in melee damage and ranged damage.

Once again, only at night. It's such a shame that the buff is restrictive considering how great the armor set looks. The armor supposedly used to belong to a Hidden One member, who probably preferred to operate at night judging by the absurd buff restriction. The Magister's Armor Set is a Raven-aligned set.

• Increase Melee Damage at night (two pieces)

14 Galloglach Armor Set

The Galloglach Armor set has a solid Viking-centric design perfect for Eivor. It is not the best armor in the game, but it can be a good companion to those who prefer a heavy melee approach instead of using stealth or ranged weapons.

The armor offers an increase in melee resistance upon successful enemy finishers. It also grants an additional increase to melee damage. The Galloglach Armor Set is a Wolf-aligned set.
